XX4 oneway

I had a three wheel drive xx4 today, not to handy! I have found that the whole oneway bearing is rotating in the housing, thus there is no drive to that front wheel at all. I think the oneway is the one you can get from DC racing (bought the car second hand). Is this a common prob? if so can I use some stud & bearing fix etc to solve the prob or am I going to be wasting my time? The oneway has only done about four meetings from new, I know this as I knew the car before I bought it from one of our club members before he left the country....:eh?:

Any help would be great

Is it a Losi one way or 3rd party? The Losi one has plastic outdrives and rings on the outsides.

common problem, whatever solution they use in manufacture to secrue the bearing is naff, ive used threadlock 636 to sort 3 peoples out in as many weeks. once you've done that there bullett proof

clean it all up with sand paper, and make sure u put it in the right way around and super glue it, leave it over night and it should be ok, ours has run like this for over 12months in the xx4

It,s got metal outdrives with 2 sets of slots for the driveshaft pins on both outdrives, and the outdrives are very heavy duty. It's blue in colour I'm sure it's a DC one

Yes, sounds like my one, which is also a DC Racing One Way.

Actually I think that's a Lesro one, not sure Dom's were ever available in Blue, could well be wrong though.

HKP 01-10-2007 04:53 PM

yes it sounds like my Lesro one.. Not had any problems with mine though. :( I was told that the one way bearings themselves should be cleaned out after 10 or so runs and a light oil put on them. I'd say clean and oil first.

losixxx 01-10-2007 05:18 PM

dom's were in blue, but at the end of the day the dc and lesro one's are the same unit i think

ashleyb4 01-10-2007 05:42 PM

I think the RW racing oen the lesro one and the dc racing one are all the same all available in red and blue

I think it's a DC one as the bloke I bought it from was in contact with dom a fair bit I think, As he is the main man of another forum that Dom is on.

I normaly use pink Zap super glue, would this work as I will be gluing metal to metal. If not were would I go to get the stuff you lot use, or loctite 636

bigred5765 01-10-2007 06:11 PM

i used pro line tyre glue. its super glue. but make sure it cleaned inside the diff were the bearing sits, and one way bearing is cleaned up properly.PS don't let the glue get inside the bearing or its dead,

i use Zap glue i think that may be to thin to bond metal

super__dan 03-10-2007 06:37 AM

Superglue sounds like madness to me, use proper threadlock, or studlock which are designed to bond metal to metal

Northy 03-10-2007 06:45 AM

Superglue is on its own not a very strong thing. The strongest way to get a joint held with superglue is to get the glue as thin as possible between the two surfaces.

If the bearing is a very good fit it might work, but if it has spun and worn the ali then bearing lock as Dan has stated is the way to go. It also has a bit of a natural 'give', so will not 'crack' and break the joint again in a large impact.

but needs to be strong threadlock, 636 is the best ive seen for this but hard to find but worth it as even with my driving the bearing hasnt come loose:D

Northy 03-10-2007 07:08 AM

The proper stuff to use is 'bearing lock' or 'bearing fit'.

Do I feel another Nor-tech product coming on here......:D:rolleyes::cool:

I'm off into the shed tonight with a tube of stud & bearing lock.I thought this would be the best stuff for the job as what I want to to is just what the stuff says it will do on the tube:).

Tmro I will be asking the best place to get the bearings from as I filled these ones with bearing lock:D

bigred5765 03-10-2007 09:56 AM

i know what your saying and thread/stud lock should be best, but mine let go twice using good stuff as u put it ,mines been glued with super glue and its still running in someone Else's car now, and has been OK for over 12 months, the x5 one way is also super glued nps at all,but its what ever you feel best using,
