Filling track hoses

Hi,

Our club currently use mainly sand filled hoses. These were stored somewhere damp so now the sand has moisture in it which makes them extremely heavy. We have recently filled a few new hoses with plastic injection moulding pellets which worked exceptionally well, however extremely expensive.

Does any know where we can purchase a large amount of pellets or re-grind cheap?

Or, any other ideas on what to fill the hoses with to keep the price and weight reasonable?

Thanks in advance,

Matt

My sister in law works for a concrete firm in London, if you need gravel/sand etc, just let me know.

Well I guess sand won't be as heavy this time as the hoses won't get damp where they're now and they're are also thinner. Bring some along on Tuesday for a test if you like?

Pea gravel, used to fill the fire hose at Oxon years ago, normal DIY, Builders Merchants or B&Q or possibly better in Wickes, comes in bags like sand. (Buy 10 for £1.53 each @ Wickes)

same sort of price, you will need a funnel and a couple of strong arms.

Cheers boss, that is cheap. I think I'll take a cherry picker and let gravity do its job

We used pea shingle too...and our rostrum to increase our gravity effect :woot:
