Tardis 22

We are finalising some last details on the Tardis 22 and wanted to gauge some interest on how many people would be interested in a kit from the first production run?

http://www.nortechracing.com/ac/22/tardis_22_6.jpg

The kit will include:

CF chassis with moulded kick up.
Chassis side pods.
Lipo strap.
Brass posts.
Shims.

The price will be £145 + P&P for the first batch.

Just a note on the Lipo dimensions:

Lipo dimensions for the Tardis 22 chassis are 69mm long by 46.5mm wide per lipo, brca regs call for a maximum size of 69.5mm long by 47mm wide, so please be aware that if you have lipos which are right on the limit of the reg's it might be a tight fit.

Reedy 60c saddles fit but are a tight fit as they are 46.66mm wide, but using
2mm of brass under the lipos they are a lot easier to remove and also the car
handles even better with the brass weight.

Dimensions of BRCA lipos can be viewd by download the following list.

http://www.brca.org/sites/default/fi...0v1%20pdf1.pdf

Thanks,

G

NOBODY BUY ONE... I'm beating all the 22's at my club at the minute with my AC CR2 and I fear that may not be the case if Dr Who drops his Tardis on the world! LOL

Only kiddin... I've seen the proto Tardis during its creation and it is a really nice looking piece of kit... I've seen Jonathon at AC race it and its a massive improvement over the original 22 in mid motor :( :p

Definitely future money well spent for anybody who is currently pulling their hair out with their TLR 22.

Mr Hinckley!

Can we just replace the original chassis by the CF chassis (to keep original electronics position ?)

We are working on a body, but I think the original body will fit - but might touch the lipos.

Not quite sure what you mean, sorry.

rcjunky 09-06-2011 11:45 AM

I think he just wants to run the cf chassis but the same lipo layout as stock so it would just be light. I don't think that would work as the chassis is shorter.

Marc0 09-06-2011 08:43 PM

Thanks rcjunky, that's exactly what I meant :)

My favorite track has almost no fast corners with a lot of grip that's why I would like a shorter chassis to have a lot of steering. I guess that keeping the lipo with the original layout could help to load more the front of car.

dirk702 11-06-2011 09:01 AM

Question ?
Is the connection between the gearbox and battery brace included in the kit ? (shassis stifner)
I already ordered one FTW aftermarket body for the Atomic kit, hope this will fit !

andys 11-06-2011 11:07 AM

G.
Will the body be at extra cost, or included for £140 ?
Cheers
Andy

tony12795 11-06-2011 11:38 AM

The original body does fit but hits the lipos. With my tardis I made some side pods out of lexen and a heat gun....

Easy.

Sorry guys, busy weekend.

The link is not included.
The body is not included.

looks sweet,is the gear box at a different angle, does this make the motor closer to the rear arms, also what are you finding different to the way it handles to the original chassis,
thanks
Mark

reg 16-06-2011 06:45 PM

anyone:confused:

V-Rossi 16-06-2011 07:20 PM

Shorter and more weight onto the rear wheels, so:
- Easier to drive (less twitchy)
- A lot better in low grip conditions

The batteries are a lot closer to the motor, also with them turned around there is a lot more weight over the rear end, you use the losi kit mid gearbox, so the distance between the motor / diff / rear arms are the same unless you use a small spur gear ;)

I found with the new chassis its felt like it snatched less in the corners, more like it was less aggressive but still with a lot of steering, and with the revised weight distribution it felt strangely a little like a xx4 floating over the bumps, i guess the big bores were helping out there.

It felt more like the CR2 but with more steering and handling the bumps a little better.

Hope that helps.

Hopefully girff might be able to add a little more info.

reg 16-06-2011 07:37 PM

thanks chaps,i might have to take my 22 off the for sale thread:woot:.....i was going to go down the AC CR2 rout but this looks like the way to go:thumbsup:

GRIFF55 16-06-2011 09:33 PM

I'd take it off the for sale thread too mate!! This car is awesome to drive. It handles bumps like they arent there, turns in loads and has bloody good rear end grip in the wet compared to any other mid motor car i have driven. I cant answer how it goes compared to the std car as i have only ever done one lap with one. (that did feel a little less responsive compared to this)
Get one, you wont be dissapointed!!

i'm hoping jonathan doesnt want his back after kiddy! lol

These are the current Tardis 22 setups that Griff and Wacker 1 are using -

Griff -
Front - 35 wt, 6 hole 56, Green spring, no limiter in shock.
Rear - 35 wt, 6 hole 55, Yellow spring

4.0 deg HRC
2 deg AS
Front camber - long link, 1mm under both ball studs
Rear camber - 3mm outer 2mm inner, C location out inner hole.
SWB on rear hub
25 deg kickup with 5 deg castor blocks.
110 gram weight under lipos, no other extra weights on the car, no rear bolt on weight either.

Wacker 1 - As above except

Front - 60 wt, 5 hole 1.5mm, Blue or Black spring
Rear - 60 wt, 5 hole 1.5mm, Yellow spring

+ Slinger under motor brass weight, TLR 25 degree brass kickup block and 50gram of weight in the nose.

The shell that Griff and Wacker1 are using is from a local guy, he is still working on the shell and one in the photos is not a final version. Also i understand that Phat bodies is also working on a 22 shell which should also fit the tardis and the FTW Vane shell will also fit but is not customised like the other two for the tardis.

GRIFF55 17-06-2011 12:53 PM

Phat shell is NNIIIIICCEEEE!!! if i can get jimbo's camera going the weekend hopefully the oople-landers can see it;)

reg 17-06-2011 03:50 PM

thanks Old timer, thats a big difference in oils on the setup, why so thick, are they losi oils or two different brands,

OldTimer 17-06-2011 04:21 PM

I am pretty sure they are both using Losi oils, yes a lot higher wait oil but also a lot larger hole in the pistons ie 1.5mm and only 5 hole, compared with a 55 @ 1.32mm and 6 hole, and a 56 @ 1.18mm and 6 hole.

jonathan may 19-06-2011 09:41 PM

Do you need the rear link. and what link are you using

Robbiejuk 20-06-2011 11:54 AM

I was racing against Wacker1 with his at the weekend and the car looked really good. That car looked good although the track we were running around wasn't the greatest to show how good the car was.

I think a random hose and lack of marshalls thwarted an AC victory :D

slow bob 20-06-2011 12:15 PM

If you want to show the tardis to a large group of possible buyers / 22 drivers you should bring it to taplow rc club some time .. ask for slow bob and we can get you racing for free :woot:..

SHY 21-06-2011 12:28 PM

The relevant part  "The interior of a TARDIS is much larger than its exterior (dimensionally transcendental)"

reg 22-06-2011 06:28 AM

i will probably be the only person to ask this and will wont be able to show my face in public again:woot:,but have you tried it in the rear motor setup:thumbsup:

slow bob 30-06-2011 11:33 AM

jonathan may 24-07-2011 06:20 PM

does having the gearbox brace on a angle make the car tweak would it be not better off straight.

OldTimer 24-07-2011 06:35 PM

You can remove a little of the gearbox material if you want the link perfectly straight. But we have found no ill effects with the link at a slight angle.
