Lightweight "Thin4" | RC10B4 FT
Nothing special, but i got kind of bored..so i took some parts that i have here in the hoby room  some spare chassis, arms, electronics so on..
See how low light i can get this "Thin4", no plans to race, since it is waaay to light..i hope :D Heaviest of the El will be the Xerun60A sensor and Novak 380 - 8.5T Rest will be mini servo Hardcase CS 1900lipo can handle 114A burst.. I will use Orion 26mm lightweight El touring rims, with dito rally/pin from schumi http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o...4/DSC_0223.jpg http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o...4/DSC_0227.jpg |
you'll need quite the mini servo, I'd think a low pro servo would be much better, even though you don't plan on racing it, you'll still want it to steer
|
now you should try to mount a durango body on this!
|
ISC949 Ko servo i think..
Il make a cab forward i think :) http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o...4/DSC_0234.jpg http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o...4/DSC_0232.jpg |

Looks good. How well does it get round a track tho?
|
the feeling was awsome...not sure if il be sticking with the CM26 , il going to test 1/10th el..
|
hey MR.P
Looks Like fun . if your going to put a 1/10th motor . maybe a one cell lipo could do the trick . ie : 4200mAh 3.7V Carbon LiPo battery, for 1/12-scale cars http://www.redrc.net/wp-content/uplo...rion1S4200.jpg |
Car looks ace
Will first test be at "green hill" ?? |

Tried this myself, and using a 1 cell lipo with a 3.5t motor gives reasonable power in a car on the weight limit, but imo isn't worth the trouble. If you go this route you need a receiver pack. - The 1/12 style regulators don't give enough oomph. But the main drawback is the amount of time to charge as the lower voltage means you take a lot more out of the pack than with 2s. You can't get away with one battery unless you are running at a very large meeting. A 2s micro pack like the one pictured in the car, or low capacity full size 2s pack such as orions 2400 which only weighs 150g is a better option. But it will depend on your local rules as to what you can do. |
First test will be at GreenHill...i will order some 2200 45c packs...i will not run the 1/10th system in this...it was never made for it...but it can be done, i have done it...it looks good :)

Looking good thomas
|
Awesome Thomas :D
How about 4wd front tyres on the back to loose a little more weight ? and for motor, how about using something like Dan has in his Chunk, its 400 size so can use stock 48dp pinions too  or maybe shorten the chassis, change the wishbones and call it a Micro !! |
nice input wayne.
i can tell you will be a valued member of this forum. |

4wd rears..thats a plan. The motor, yes, now i have to look in to that, i know that Feigao have a real nice 380c cklass, with inbuilt zink in the can..that can to be a killa |
Si..here it is..im down at 1090gram now..sad i think it will go up little..will go for the 380c motor and 2200 packs

very good
Hello
I´m very interested in your project! But can you tell us how long the runtime ist with that lipo? thanks a lot! Simon |

cheers |
Looks real cool Thomas! I'm really curious as to what kind of run time and power you'll get form the 380 size setup. Keep us posted

Just cos you're not a kiss arse doesn't mean you have to be a http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h7...e/censored.gif
|
I think the cab needs to be bigger and go slightly further down the car.
get a 540 motor in there, I can easily kill a 380 or 400 motor in an 18th scale car. I like to see these away from the norm ideas  |
This will be so agile!
How about lower towers, getting the front shocks on the rear and TC shocks on the front. Even lighter and lower CG :) |
Looks abso-freakin-lutely ace!!! Make sure to add a lipo plate, eh???
(sorry.... couldn't resist ) |
Actually, that brings me to look through old pictures, you're not the first one to do this:)
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2736/...79263b8a5e.jpg Jupp, that's my buddys XXX-CR with it's sides cut of. It shall be said that this was run with regular race gear, although I don't think he ever weighted up to legal weight. Due to the cutaway sides, the flex caused extreme grip, so it would have become his wet race chassis, had he ever continued to use it. Very cool project you got, so keep going!! |
IL be going for some 1/10th electric this winter..and a 1s lipo. :)
|
Tested the car today..and what a cornerspeed :) sad it is not legal..app 300gr to light :D...Ordered a Novak Booster, so i can run the car properly :)
|
This looks awesome Thomas, coming from TC you just don't see this kind of thing.
Really loving all the innovation here in offroad and this thin4 especially. |
Very cool mod Thomas!
But make a Durango (the prototype) shell instead, that's soooo cool!!! With cooling "shark gills" type of vents... :wub Light cars on astro is BIG fun!!! |
Thanks guys... My dream is a RebelB4 , but il be making my new Thin4.1 this weekend
|
RebelB4 - what would that be?
Btw I myself tried 4 cells NIMH and a 3,5 turn (in an X-6) a couple of seasons ago, before we had lipo... it was clear to me already then that a light car on astro is awesome!!! Could you show us step-by-step how you make that body next time? |
Yes il do that SHY. My 4wd is still just above the weight limit, dont belive in weight cars :)
|
So you know the car aint done yet but this is the Thin4.1 still cross my fingers that the MSR4 will be out
