50cc bikes..fs1e,dt50, ss50

Anyone see any of these about or even own one ? i had most of them years ago mostly the FS1E ( fizzy ) and wouldnt mind getting another as project but on ebay they go for silly prices..

stumpiey 27-01-2010 09:26 PM

I had the ss50, the best thing was you could fit the c70 barrel, piston and head onto it, made it eat FS1E's for breakfast:thumbsup:

rcracer 27-01-2010 09:29 PM

my first bike was the ss50 but the my unrestricted fs1e did 65mph and 55mph with 2 on it :D

kryten 27-01-2010 09:52 PM

My first bike was an fs1e back in '86 micron pipe and ported by my friend who is a mechanic.did 74mph i loved it! Good luck finding one.

daz 27-01-2010 09:58 PM

Did you see the James May programme a few years back, where there was a mith that you could tune a fizzy to do over 60mph. With a team of mechanics with him they could only manage just over 40mph!

Oh the memories!

A mate of mine bought a brand new one in 1989, put a 90cc bore kit on it, lasted about 50 miles til the bottom end sounded like a bag of nuts and bolts. Went like a ethopian with a dinner ticket being chased by a lion tho.
And the lucky bugger got a new engine fitted through warranty.

c0sie 28-01-2010 06:50 PM

2-strokes are so much more fun!
Had a TS50X as well that was bored out to an 80ish lol

The days of popping down to the local back street engineers for a bore and hone lol

budgio 28-01-2010 06:59 PM

I had the head skimmed on mine it was like a rocket.:D

Harris Magnum 28-01-2010 07:04 PM

My first ride was a TZR125. I rode a GP125 a year or too ago. Funny to think the big bore on my bike now was an extra 100cc

B&H Racing 28-01-2010 07:12 PM

Same here TZR 125 blue with power value kit. Loads of fun

Chequered Flag Racing 28-01-2010 07:39 PM

main comp for the fizzy was the Suzuki AP 50

Beanie 28-01-2010 07:58 PM

DT50M...old skool twin shock!!

dodgydiy 28-01-2010 08:17 PM

there is a fs1e for sale locally, dont know how much for though. my first bike was a ts50, total heap o shite. got a yam rs100 at the same time which i did up and modified heavily while riding the ts, the 100 would scare most 125's, powerband at 7000 made it quite hard to ride but serious fun, instant wheelie in second and did over 90mph

MHeadling 28-01-2010 08:46 PM

Nice list of bikes there, my first road bike was a Aprillia AF1 Replica 125, it had an Arrow pipe and carbon reeds etc

I thought I was a gp legend on the roads!

I race a TZR 250 in the Yamaha past Masters, 2nd season this year! Bring on The first round at Oulton in April!!

B&H Racing 28-01-2010 09:01 PM

Mark you will have to let us know when your racing at Brands

MHeadling 28-01-2010 09:05 PM

Yes for sure, I'm there on May 16/17, full gp circuit!!

I rode the gp circuit last year, it's mental but really good fun!

I'll let you know the dates, we visit brands 3/4 times during a season.

Check out Bemsee website, it's a good day out with some really quick lads on the 1000 and 600's, fairly cheap entry fee too compared the BSB etc.

MHeadling 28-01-2010 09:07 PM

Our websites pretty cool with some good pics etc

it's www.ypmrc.co.uk

Chequered Flag Racing 28-01-2010 09:33 PM

back on track, and not Brands Hatch etc ;)

ones to die for back in the 70's

were they Gilera, Malagutti & a Ginetta ???

seem to remember a black & gold ped but can't put a name to it

looking for pictures though

greasy mark 28-01-2010 09:34 PM

The ultimate 2 stroke weapon is to put a rg500 gamma engine into a rg250 chassis, proper old skool gp bike! The fat americans go mad for them, but not as much as jellied doughnuts.

c0sie 28-01-2010 10:19 PM

Does any one remember the Performance Bikes mag with the blue/white RGV250 home made thingy??

I had a 350LC, fecking awesome hooligans bike, loved it so much but had loads of problems with the oil pump :( I wonder if people still race the LC's?

daz 28-01-2010 10:40 PM

I have a mag from last year which has a cagiva 125 with a 350 ypvs motor in it, rg 250 forks and loads of other mods. The block had some yagiva stickers made for it, from a distance it looked like vagina :woot:

c0sie 28-01-2010 10:41 PM

You got a scanner Daz? lol

Nope, but if its any help its in the jan 2009 edition of performance bikes. I remember it well cos i was reading it while my wife was in labour.

rcracer 28-01-2010 11:27 PM

I had the older RD250 not the lc and a X7 man that was ace..now i'm on a 50cc ped

MHeadling 29-01-2010 08:27 AM

In the YPM it's mainly 2ma Tzr 250, but we have about 6 RD350's and one of these was champion in 09 but they are tricky to ride as the handling is a bit strange? We also have a few LC and one TDR!

You all forgot the fastest stock one, Fantic Motor, GT6 on road Caballero off road, that would hit 50 without any tuning, my mate did carry a toolkit and spare crank in his backpack though:thumbsup:
I was always a 4 stroker, so S550 no pedals and a nifty 90 head and barrel, plus a Dunstall power pipe ran under motor to stop passenger burning legs, it did me a 12 mile each way commute for a year no worries at speed.
Then a Honda CD175, the BSA replica with rubber and chrome tank panels and a bathtub rear mudguard, replaced with a Yamaha YDS7 250 with Amal 32 carbs, twin leading front drum did nose wheelies, and would lift the front in 5th all day long, those were the days.

rcracer 29-01-2010 02:54 PM

I'm riding this at the minute it does do 45mph
