Real car tyres
Now then guys, who can hook a brother up with a good deal on some tyres?
The Vectra needs two rears, currently fitted with Goodyear 215/50 R17 NCT 5's. Cheers, G |
I should be able to - Any preference on brand or do you just want a high end brand like the current Goodyear's, pirelli's, bridgestone etc? PM me if you want to discuss.

Brrr!!
Do you want me to get a price?? JIm :p |

I've always found www.blackcircles.com good value. You can even get the tyre delivered to one of their local fitting places where they'll fit it for you and eveything. |
Cheers guys, you can all get a price if you like :D
I'd like something decent as I'll be towing the caravan around and a unborn/soon born child  Cheers, G |
Why dont you just buy him/her a car seat like everyone else:p

Locally I have used Elite in the past but yesterday Etyres came out and were first class. I got the guy to swap the fronts and rears over at the same time. And then asked him for some lead balancing weights too! For 235/40/18 tyres they were £60 more expensive per tyre than Elite for Michelin Pilot Sport II but I just got some Dunlop's this time around to see how they go. Got 54000 out of the MPSIIs on the front so will see how the new ones hold up! |
I have a trade account with these guys that i've used for about 6/7 years now so they will come back to me shortly with some options for you (incl Postage Ooop North) :D

Just for comparison under £100 posted don't seem bad, and if you try tech tyres in Osbaldwick York, they look after my taxis, fitted and balanced own tyres for a fiver for me normally:) |
215/50R17 Goodyear NCT5 91V - £85 each *Incl Delivery*

G,
I looked into internet tyres etc when I had the Astra and Pug but once you've found someone to fit them there really was no point going anywhere other than North East Tyres at Clifton Moor. Everytime they were the cheapest and by far the best customer service I've ever had for tyres (unless I knew the people there). Speaking of which Jase across the road couldn't even beat NE Tyres price when offering me mates rates!!! (thanks anyway Jase). Dan |

In the german "Top Gear" they tested some chinese manufacturers and they all had lots of performance issues. All of them were bad on the brake, in the wet and the cornering speeds were significantly lower. |

Right,
Thanks to everyone who has tried to help so far. Julie phoned someone local and he has offers me Pirelli P6000's, but they are 225/50 R17's, 10mm wider. Will they fit? They seem very cheap at £40 each, fitted, inc VAT :woot::woot: G |

If you want P6000's they are pretty cheap in all honesty, goodyears & michelins are probably as expensive as it gets As others have said i'd stay away from Nexens - the only "budget" tyres i've got on well with are Nankangs (but wear pretty quickly) and also Kuhmo. |
g not sure if they will fit but i think they are good tyres even better then the tyre company i work for which is michelin
|
I do only need 2, so that's a no go then? I don't really drive like a loon!
Shane, can you get me some Bus tyres? :woot: G |
lol no sorry g they are all serial numbered and on a computer system sorry
|
G for that price I'd change all 4 !!!!
They used to stamp the size of the wheel into it somewhere (or in the book or the internet) and then you could look online to see all the tyre sizes that will actually fit that wheel size. Might be worth a look. |
Ive never skimped on tyres since an incident on my way home from having some cheapo tyres fitted.
Off came some worn Michelins, on went some new "budget" tyres ( Kingpin ) A 90 degree bend taken at same speed i drove to the garage on ended up with me in the hedge ! |
Your standard tyre will be 215/50/17 but if you look in your handbook it also recommends 225/45/17
From a Vectra forum, so width will work, just check the height, and I ran P6000 on my Rover alloys all the time hard wearing and grip well:D |

I can get you the Goodyear NCT5 215/50R17 93W for £61 each A good tyre to look at is the Falken ZE912 or Kumho KU31 they will both come in at around £45-50 each. |

If they don't scrub the tyres aren't big enough or the car isn't low enough :p
|
Well, I only ever had the one set of P6000, they came on my 418 estate on alloys 185/55 15s 5 years ago, and I just sold it with them still on 3mm of tread, so they lasted better than most.
|
The plot thickens......
When we got the car a few months ago I told them all four tyres were badgered and it needed new ones, they argued a bit and said they would fit a pair. Well, I didn't take that much notice tbh, but I did this morning. They have fitted Nexens!!!!!:lol::lol::lol: They are on the front, so is it worth putting anything better on the rear? :woot: G |
Your loaded G. Just get 4 new goodyears:p
|
Would be best to change all 4 tyres probably, putting the same on the back the grip levels are gonna be pretty poor according to info in this thread, and putting better tyres on the back it might not wanna swerve as fast as you want it to if needed.
|
I wouldnt want to be swerving with any tyre on if i had a caravan on the back:o
I doubt you would feel a difference G, its not like you have the car on the limit in every turn;) |
Didn't realise it was for caravan pulling, sorry :p
