cool track, the wall of death looks great!

PaulRotheram 13-01-2007 09:14 PM

The track is great !! I wish the wall was abit higher, but trying to kink the wood to gain more 'vert' put too much stress on the wood. The wall works very well though, and all the features turned out very cool indeed.

You'l have a good days racing, guranteed.

The pitting hall unfortuantly has lots of tables and chairs in for the school exams on monday, but we've been allowed to pit on them if we would like to, failing that please move / fold them and put them to one side.

We've put a few tables together for any one who would like to use them.

See you all tommorrow!!!

looks fantastic

Infact it looks that good that I've bothered my arse to screw together a 4WD.

So Eric or Paul can you put me in for 4WD, I've already booked in for 2WD.

Thanks Guys.

Chrislong 13-01-2007 10:20 PM

yeh I want to run 4wd too, its ready, but I will need somebody to marshall for me.... any volunteers? :(

bald eagle 13-01-2007 10:58 PM

Thanks to all the guys who built this track. It must have been alot of hard work.

I have no idea how to drive a track like this as normally when I race, they dont put any obstacles in the way (scale saloons) :D. Cant wait to abuse my car around it.! hop on baby!!!! ;)

bald eagle 14-01-2007 07:45 PM

Just wanted to say, if you went elsewere to a different meeting, then you seriously missed out on a superb day. I havent raced off road buggys for around about 14 years so it was a really steep learning curve. Totally enjoyed myself. A very friendly atmosphere, very laid back, and great fun.
I qualified 7th in the B and finished in the same position.
Many thanks to all the effort that went into organising this event, and to all the people who must have volunteered to help set the track up. YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!!!! ;) ... many thanks.

Stu 14-01-2007 08:13 PM

Pics & report tomorrow.

XXX4 was ace.

bigred5765 14-01-2007 08:28 PM

hmm hmm who screwed it together andy lol

PaulRotheram 14-01-2007 08:50 PM

Thanks for the comments!

The event went great imo.. Like already said, if you were elsewhere you missed out, putting it simply!

Pleanty of similar driving ability ment for close racing ,and an unpredictable A final all day. The layout I thought was great, needed good steady thumbs on the tarpaulin and careful lines on some of the trickyer sections.

The wall turned out well from my opinion, and everyone else thought it was good as it wasnt a simple hairpin like 'normal'.
The atmosphere was great, really relaxing and laid back :)

Thanks to stu for the upcoming report and pics.

The club should run its outdoor GP this year and it will no doubt be discussed at our AGM.
Would any one be interested in a buggys only winter series next year based on todays meeting?

Yes, I'd like to add my thanks to all the team at SRCC that put on one of the best meetings I've been to in a long time. Fantastic track, well run and an all round great way to spend a day.

Got to credit Big Red for screwing together a top 4WD for me, I was well chuffed to qualify it 5th in the A. Think I finished 4th or 5th.
2WD went well too. 6th on the grid but a few errors say me drop down the order. But I've got to say I love that brushless stuff.

All in all a very good day. Long live 10th buggies.

Yes Paul, I'd be up for that. A day like today, even though on a smaller scale, would be something to look forward to every week.

PaulRotheram 14-01-2007 09:06 PM

I should rephrase it, a buggy series like today on our buggy point meetings, We will still cater for the other classes on other meetings, but a GP, or smaller version on each buggy round.

Just a thought for now, will be brought up at the AGM.

Chrislong 14-01-2007 09:22 PM

Hi Paul,
This Winter the racing seems a little 'harder to find', since Batley are not holding club meetings as often, and the NE only have 4 regionals. Therefore id be keen for SRCC to hold a GP series, using same size track, 2nd hall and plenty of your excellent PR work.

So now is a good time to strike while the iron is hot...

I have a few idea's, I'll share them over MSN?

Well done on today, the track was built to an excellent quality and was very unlike anything else, very technical and challenging - forced the driver to drive! Eric did a great job on race control, and it is also the first Sunday in ages I have made it home in time for tea, its usually reheated and rubbery.

Nice track guys! Very good job with the running of the club, and all the driving standards were good aswel. Wished i had a buggy ready to race but i still enjoyed the day as a spectator!:)

Chrislong 14-01-2007 09:47 PM

oh, and thanks for the use of 240v sockets. As planned I only used it for soldering and took my 12v for charging.

Scouser 15-01-2007 01:25 AM

Went today purely as a spectator and I have to say there was some great close racing to be seen. A huge pat on the back to everyone who was involved in the organisation and track building, I can't wait to get the b4 down there asap. Nice to bump into an old mate there too. Top day.

stegger 15-01-2007 09:22 AM

I would like to echo people's comments. T.O.P day fella's, so enjoyed the relaxed environment and racing even though i finished in the D final. Nice to bump into some old faces from yesteryear.

Yep was a good day. Was my first indoor meeting and only my 3rd electric buggy meeting. Took some getting use to but I improved each round and qualified 5th for the B final which I was happy with. Made some adjustments for the final but it made the car worst and I finished last but it was fun. Track was challenging but fun.

bigchris 15-01-2007 02:27 PM

srcc indoor gp

hi
yes it was a good day for me too , changed nothing in the 2wd except front camber , and the 4wd , the front springs track was good , and the tarpaulin caught everyone out as well

driver was very rusty though , poled the B :( but made the 4wd A :)

felt good to be doing off road again

Report & pics,

www.northernracer.com/nwgp2007

G has some pics & words about the Autosport Show from Saturday, I've tagged them on. Looks like there were some pretty nice chassies on display, some with large headlamps.

Anyone fancy some casserole? I have lots left-over.

Great event on Sunday, well organised & very good track, although I'm glad I wasnt driving as slippy stuff is the worst thing going for old thumbs like mine. Well worth the drive from Durham although 6am starts aint too great. Cars went well too apart from a few issues with 4wd motors but i always get that wrong:confused: just ask Greg.
Also excellent photos from Stu (as always) & Northy, (I especially like the ladies at the Autosport show!!!);)
