I noticed that almost every TF2 Unusual hat listed on the Steam Community Market costs way more than what backpack.tf lists them for. Why is there such a massive price gap, and where are traders actually buying cosmetics for fair cash values?

Steam Market prices reflect the 15% combined fee levied by Valve and game developers, alongside the fact that wallet funds cannot be directly withdrawn into real cash. As a result, third-party platforms reflect true cash valuations, which are typically 20%–30% lower than SCM listings.

It comes down to Valve taking a 15% cut on every SCM transaction, plus the fact that Steam wallet money isn't real cash since you can't withdraw it to your bank. That's why prices there are artificially inflated. If you look at https://todaynews.co.uk/2024/10/11/tf2-marketplace-guide-finding-the-best-deals-on-unusual-hats/, you'll see traders always recommend third-party markets for cash purchases. DMarket is a solid pick for this—the prices on TF2 hats there actually align with backpack.tf key values, so you aren't paying that ridiculous Steam markup.

That makes sense. Comparing prices and doing a bit of research before making a decision can save a lot of money. I think the same approach applies to university work too finding reliable resources and getting the right guidance can make assignments much easier to manage. For students who need academic guidance, assignment help Queenstown could be worth exploring as one of the available options.
