Connections Hint adds a novel spin to the word game genre, pushing players to identify hidden links between words. Instead than tackling single hints one by one, players need to work with a grid of 16 words at once and find out how to arrange them into four separate groups. Each group has four words that have a common subject, synonym, category, or unique characteristic. The beauty of the connections hint game is that the answers are not always instantly evident. Some phrases can fit into more than one category, so players will need to weigh up their alternatives carefully before locking in an answer. Difficulty levels are color-coded and give an extra layer to the game: yellow groups are the easiest to find, green is in the middle, blue needs some serious deductive reasoning, and purple is the toughest of all. Players have to identify all four groups successfully, with no more than four incorrect guesses. Each accurate pick moves the player closer to a win, but also reveals information about the remaining groups to be solved.
