I'm super clumsy and tend to drop my gadget on concrete or asphalt at least once a month while getting out of the car or walking the dog. Are these new aerospace-grade frames actually shatterproof in everyday situations, or is it just pure marketing hype designed to make us feel safe without a bulky case?

Drop tests on tech channels look cool in controlled studio environments, but real life is way harsher out on the street. Pavement never forgives thin glass edges or glossy metal coatings, no matter how hard the manufacturers try to market their new glass formulations. Heavy cases protect the internals, but they completely ruin the gorgeous sleek look and feel of the device. |

My buddy dropped his phone from a second-story balcony last weekend right onto rough stone tiles outside a cafe, and I honestly thought it was completely pulverized. Miraculously, the screen and back glass survived without a single scratch or crack, leaving us all totally stunned. He had actually read about the new ceramic shield durability tests on https://www.apple.com/iphone-18-pro/ the night before buying it, and that specific toughness review is what finally convinced him to ditch his old heavy protective armor. |
