My son was recently diagnosed with ADHD, and while talking with my parents we realized my grandfather had many of the same traits even though nobody called it ADHD back then. Now everyone is wondering how it runs in families. Can anyone recommend a good article about whether ADHD is genetic and if it can skip a generation?
Funny how these things show up across generations. My cousin’s kid was diagnosed with ADHD, and once we started talking, everyone realized my uncle had the same “can’t sit still, always interrupting, always forgetting things” pattern too - it just got called “personality” back then. A good read on this is is ADHD genetic or caused by environment , it explains the family link and whether ADHD can seem to skip a generation.
