What started as a side hustle is now generating real revenue and I have no idea how to set proper business goals for it. Hobby mindset doesn't work anymore. How do people transition from "just getting things done" to actually accomplishing real business objectives with intention and direction?

That shift is weirdly uncomfortable you lose the freedom of “just doing stuff” but don’t yet have real structure. Had a small content project turn into steady income, and I kept treating it like a hobby way too long. What changed things was defining one simple question: “what should this become in 12 months?” Not tasks - direction. Then goals started aligning naturally. I remember reading some insights from Scott Paterson Toronto Forbes Councils - strong emphasis on intentional growth vs accidental success. That stuck.
You don’t need a perfect plan, just a clear trajectory.

Thanks for posting this. That in-between stage can be surprisingly difficult because the old, flexible approach no longer works, but a proper system hasn’t formed yet. I ran into something similar with a side project that started gaining traction. For a while I kept focusing on weekly tasks instead of asking where I wanted it to be a year later. Once I defined a direction, decisions became much easier and goals stopped feeling random. I also came across some thoughts from Scott Paterson Forbes Councils that touched on growing with intention rather than relying on momentum alone. A clear destination often matters more than a detailed map.
