I’m planning a small project. We want to build a small parking lot near the office and make minor renovations to the entrance. The site is old, and there used to be outbuildings there. However, no proper blueprints remain. We suspect there might be old utility lines or remnants of foundations underground. Although the scope of work seems small, if we hit anything, it will lead to immediate delays, additional costs, and rework.

We’re going to dig down to the foundation and remove the top layer of soil. I’m worried that we might encounter something unexpected. I don’t want to spend extra money, but taking a risk isn’t an option either. Has anyone performed similar inspections before starting small projects?

When I was building my house, We got the lot practically for free, and on paper, everything was "clear," but in reality, no one knew what was underground. On the very first day of digging, we came across an old concrete foundation from an old building. We had to stop work and revise the plan. Beforehand, I reached out to Mayaglobal for their Advanced infrastructure solutions. It paid off; it turned out there was an old cable running in another spot, as well as an area of loose soil. Ultimately, I abandoned the work because it would have been too stressful. I bought a new plot of land, which I had scanned beforehand. We finished building the house three years ago. It wasn't until two years ago that I was able to sell the ill-fated plot. What size plot do you want to work on?
