Default Can i run a Li-po?

Hi i have a B4 and i am wondering if i can run a Li-po battery without changing the motor and/or the SC. The motor is a Reedy 17-T Radon and the SC is a LRP Ai automatic.
Cheers

Technically, I am sure you could run those electrics without any problems with it working, however, they are not 'competition' grade electronics, so you may suffer with some longevity issues with overheating, (especially the motor) since it was not designed to handle the current that a li-po can give out. If you are bashing, it maybe worth looking at a sensorless brushless system (motor and speedo), such as Tekin make. These are virtually maintenance free, so just need brush cleaning out occasionally.

Make sure your speedo has a lipo cutoff setting and if not, then install a seperate one.

And keep an eye on temperature...

Cheers mark, ive been thinking of getting one of the Green Venom li-po's. If my electrics mess up its just an excuse to get a brushless system!! the orion batterys sound good but are pricey!

have a look at trakpowers too,
two things 1st is a must, make sure you have a lipo charger as a nimh/nicad one will NOT do

look at getting a lipo cut off if your speedo does not have one installed

Just read the Trakpower review on here and it sounds good, they are pretty reasonable on Ebay to! Lipo cut off? i take it it is something that stops ur ESC blowing if the power gets oo much?

No, the lipo-cutoff turns it off when the voltage gets to low to avoid damaging the battery.

Do you know if the LRP Ai series has this cut off feature? I cant see as it does from the instructions supplied with the kit.
