Tyres for Polished wooden floor!

Hi i run 4wd on wooden floor it is a badminton court floor like a hall basically

I was thinking of gettin a 2wd and was wondering what tires i shud use i use schumacher mini spikes yellow in 4wd and it works great so i was wandering what wud work on 2wd cause i hav no idea about fronts and things so any help is appreciated

Most of us at LUDLOW RADIO RACE CAR CLUB race with Schumacher yellows.
The spikes is upto you. Ive used fullspikes for most of this season. But just moved onto minispikes. Have used minipins, but never got on with them.
No tyres will work if somebodys shocks leak all over the track, thoughts does make it very interesting.
2WD would be very very difficult to drive. No one at Ludlow races a 2WD.

we at FORCC (faversham) have been racing on wooden floor for 20+ years yellow full spikes are still the favoured tyre but to be on ultimate pace its not a case of bolting them on as they dont get good until they are nearly worn out. yellow mini spikes are good staight out the packet however the car would need to be setup differntly to compeat against a prime set of full spikes it can be done and both tyres can be as fast as each other so its your up to you. and as for oil on the track you may aswell go home, we have a policy to shout oil or shock as soon as it happends the racing gets stoped and a ton of brake cleaner and elbow grease is used to mop it up this works well as it minimises the situation.

Beginner Opinion...

I race 2wd at YORCC, the track is a mixture of polished wood and carpet, minispikes give better grip on the polished wood until the track has "rubbered in" once thats happened, minipins are faster.

Spikes give better grip on the wood, but you lose so much speed on carpet, they are overall slower...

totaly agree if you have lots of carpet dont bother with the spikes mini spikes or mini pins but there was no mention of carpet.

back in the day, we found Schumacher full spikes to be the ticket on polished wood. they were best with a lot of wear on them (1mm or less of the spike left) Worth trying these in both blue and yellow, we found blue worked better in some conditions. At one of our venues, CAT origional Full Spikes (with the flat carcass) in blue were just brilliant, i'm unsure if they're available again?
I'm sure the new mini-pins would be useable too, i remember some people trying them towards the end of that style of racing over here.

I have tried both full spikes and mini spikes for me mini spike make the car feel much more planted if u get the setup right and the full spikes feel sort of 'floaty' but i didnt spend much time on the setup with them, i find u can get mega grip with mini spikes,
What tires would u use in the front of a 2 wheel drive or would u use mini spikes aswell i hav no idea about 2wd fronts
i remember guys came down to our club about a year ago and wernt far of the speed of the 4wd with the 2wd dont no how the done it i think they were using staggers or somfin lik that on the front

I have found that full spikes works best on polished floor but no good on carpet.................mini pins work best on carpet but no good on polished wood floor..............min spikes seem to be a good all round tyre for both polished wood floor and carpet

Have you tried Ballistic White mini pins tried them at the M K G P worked straight out of the packet no need to scrub in like schumachers although they do need a good clean as they are covered in release agent

This is great info for anyone who has never driven on a Polished wooden floor with 2 wheel drive before.....hope someone hasn't shot themselves in the foot.......lol

You won't find anyone using silicone on buggies these days, a bit too much like hard work even though it's cheaper and makes then run on rails.

Would the new dboots terabyte work in the softer compound? if i have the name wrong im on about the middle sized pin of them all not the biggest ones or the smallest ones the ones inbetween
