Default Dex 410 Wet Setup help

Trying to find that sweet spot on wet astro. Running Dboots B compound multibytes all round or BB greens

Problems i am having are

1 - not enough rear traction
2 - too much steering, or initial turn in anyway which makes the back loose.

I can turn down the total steering movement, but i then struggle to get into the tight corners

Have done quite a lot of looking around and have decided the following may help.

1 - Thinner diff oils (especially the rear)
2 - 1 Degree rear hubs?
3 - Remove washer from front caster block and make link level?
4 - Inside hole on shock tower, or maybe front ARB

The rear link is angled down already, and i run LWB which i read both helps

Happy to post more setup info if required, but any assistance greatfully recieved

When does the rear break traction?

Current setup?

On initial turn in i would say, not when powering out of the corner

Front
10k diff oil, middle for shock on tower, outer on wishbone
Camber link = Washer under hub, hole 2 on tower
Losi Big bore shocks with blue springs and tapered 1.3x5 pistons 35wt oil

Rear
5k diff oil, middle for shock on tower, middle on wishbone
Camber Link = Middle on hub and hole 4 on tower
LWB on hub and arms
-2 Rear front block and 2 rear block
Rear weight
Losi Big bore shocks with pink springs and tapered 1.3x5 pistons 27.5wt oil

Any ideas?

Cheers

Dave

I found that BB greens are very good and that using 2wd slim green spikes on the front mounted over the full 4wd rim worked really well and you can remove the outer and inner row if it still gives you too much steering. You may also want to use the holes closer to the steering servo in the ackerman plate which will calm down the steering. You could also use the anti roll bars to get rid of some steering but it may get rid of some traction too!

Moving the front shocks to the outer hole in the wishbone should kill some steering and make it easier to drive.

Mine seemed to be going quite well on Sunday Dave, I've got a few more things to try that should improve it a little more though...

If you're down this weekend you're welcome to take a look. For me playing with the roll-centers has made probably the biggest single difference in the car, especially with the amount of steering.

drop the links to the lowest position on the front tower. I found that tames down the turn in for me

Here is my setup which i used at the Eden Park Raceway winter series last sunday. The track conditions started out wet and then went to the greasy, neither wet or dry stage which i know we all love , and then back to wet again.

The car felt very balanced although the back would slide out on the exit of tight corners if too much throttle was used.

If you have any questions then please ask

David
