something pretty bendy I'm thinking, based on how much my rear one looks like a banana at the moment! Waiting on a nice set of Atomic Carbon goodness to replace them...

no they're not they are a good grade ally, not you average road sign crap. Try and straighten them out then you'll know!!

Had a mashall stand on mine when upside down, not a skinny one either, bent quite a lot,but mother were they hard to straighten out.

Please, please read my original post, I don't want to know about carbon towers or bent towers, or second hand towers, I just want to know what grade of aluminium they are made from.

Why dont you do some more looking and maybe ask TD or something along those lines...

Instead of sarcastic comments. (That has helped me a treat thank you.)

I notice the chassis are made from 6061 t6, the alloy hangers are made seem to be made of 7075 t6

maybe the 6061 t6 is good enough for what we need it for but with the hangers maybe the 7075 t6 needs to be used as i think it machines better as these are more complex parts (maybe wrong,im sure someone will shoot me down if i am!)

I guess you are wanting to make some custom parts maybe ? i would take a guess that the origanals are made out of 6061 t6.

hope this shines a little light on your problem.

When asking a simple question about aluminimum grades and you get answers relating to carbon fibre, I believe a sarcastic coment is justified.

I searched it in google.. and seen that the towers are 7075 from 2 mins of searching. It could be wrong, but does not hurt to do a little background work before hand though.

http://www.google.com/search?client=...UTF-8&oe=UTF-8

7th One down..? may not be 100% correct though..

im only guessing but i would imagine they try to keep the different materials used to a min so i guess they will be either of the two i mentioned

7075 is the harder so makes sense for the hangers to be a little better material

the only thing i have in the back af my mind is that you can see the 'R' type shock towers a pressed/punched out so may be different altogether!

thanks for your help,

With two grades to quote I'll ask my supplier which is most suitable,

As is my understaning the different grades relate to "spring" as well as strenth.
