Default zx-5 sp VS zx-5 hooked up

I was looking at getting a zx-5. i want to spend around $300 would it be better to get a normal kit + carbonchassi and upper deck and some alum parts or a sp with a carbon upper deck and everything stock?

on the sp front what size hexes does it have?

if i take the hexes off and put losi front can i run losi wheels?
on the back if i take the hexes off can i run pin wheels?

This is pretty much down to personal taste as some people prefer the saddle pack layout you would get with the KMC conversion (if this is what you mean by carbon chassis). For me its an easy one. Get the SP, a carbon front shock tower to double up with the stock one and spend the remainder on spares.

No contest ..... buy the SP ... build it as per kit and head to the track, no tricks, no secrets, no grief!!!!!

Yes it really is that good. Some people are going with the shaft one way upgrade (myself included) but otherwise it's a great car out of the box. For the Uk I'd recomend Kyosho silver springs all round, the guys in the US are running Yellow or dark yellow all round.

I'm not saying it can't be improved (I have my own design chassis as a protoype sitting in front of me as I type) but I am saying that the stock car is awesome out of the box!!!

Just buy it, you won't regret it!

As for the hex sizes they are 12mm in teh kit but reducing them to 3/8" AF means Losi wheels are a direct fitment as the offset on the SP is the same to within 0.1mm. I have dome this with my car, ok I have a lathe and mill at home but I have heard of plenty of people using careful marking and a dremel.........

Are you still reading this ... get and order the SP kit (make sure it's a 30077b)

The kit front hex drives are 12mm across the flats, Losi wheels are 3/8" across the flats.

If you cut the kit hex drives so they are 3/8" across the flats you can use Losi fitting wheels. The hex drives are easy to cut as they are plastic but lots of care is required.

I don't think the car comes with tires, but then do any of them these days. So much depends on the track anything included would be wasted on the majority so it's better to keep the cost of the kit down and let the owner choose.

It does come with wheels.

An improvement on the XXX4 ... in a word massive
