Default Zx-5 Parts

Following a rather nasty incident whilst racing on Thursday night I need some parts for my rather ancient Lazer zx-5.

I bought it 2nd hand so I don't know the vintage of it, but I believe the RTR version is still identical.

I have been trying to source the parts, ( LA302, a drive shaft, and TF008, front king pin items).

JE spares don't list them at all, or are not in stock, others don't have them in stock in the UK.

There seem to have been so many models of the Zx-5 that searching for the drive shafts gives a number of different lengths/part no's.

If the supply of parts for my ZX-5 is drying up in the Uk I will have to think about buying another buggy and possibly a different make, whioch would be a shame as the Lazer has been admired for it's speed and lack of noise!

In the meantime parts orders from Hong Kong and Portugal!

The LA302 are the cheap readyset driveshafts that normally are changed to pro ones, so its normal for shops not to stock.

This car is still current, you can order any spare even if it not in stock or listed online, just ask the shop to order for you.

Did you ring JE Spares? I am 100% confident that they would do their very best to get you the parts ASAP but as Neil says most shops carry the upgrade / race parts as that is what 99% of people want to fit.

On-line stock checkers are really only useful for parts carried in serious bulk IMHO.

Thanks Guys, I did my usual thing, come home from the track, having ascertained what parts I need, jump online and check JE spares site, then I doodle the part no's and order.

Neil, thanks for the info about the stock as opposed to uprated shafts... but the length seems differetn too! Very odd!

The shafts your seeing are for the SP / FS with the newer front end .. I've not got a ZX5 manual to hand but you want the driveshafts from the ORIGINAL ZX5 kit.

Somebody will know the part number!

Long time ago we had a ZX5 and even then I was confused........ manual is part of Jimmy's review, http://www.oople.com/rc/photos/zx5/
Front parts page= http://www.oople.com/rc/manuals/zx5/...s/zx50028.html

and this is from eBay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Kyosho-LA2...ht_1746wt_1140

and this:http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/hobby_japa...4.l1581&_pgn=2

I am sure between Roger & JEspares you will be able to sort out the exact parts you need.

As i mentioned you can use these http://www.ebay.com/itm/3Racing-Fron...item53e877259a for the front. They are made by 3racing, and is a good quality product ment for replacing LA302.
(68mm long) And they are half the price.
But if you want to use orginal kyosho, you might as well get the LA257 73mm axels and change to LA755 ZX-5 SP susp arms and ZX-5 SP knuckle & hubs and LA256 King Pin Set... Then its SP front suspension.

The front pro driveshafts are LA231 these are direct replacement for LA302
They are 68mm if you want to double check what is on the car now.

If you want to support quick parts availibility its best to buy in UK.
