Default M-K Racing newbury rc round 2 10th feb

hi guys

just a quick up date entrys are very low at this time we need the entrys to be up around the 50 mark really for us to continue with these meetings it is a shame that we havent got the interest we did for the GP in december i guess that more clubs must be running offroad indoors now or we arent giving you what you want.

Anyway entrys are listed below we have decided to use the same basic lay out with a few tweeks to ends of the hall where i think they could be better i thought the infield was ace so i think i will leave that.

like i say we need these entrys to come up a bit so please guys if you want to come get those entrys in

Andy, it might be because it clashes with Kiddy's winter series. As that is the first mid west regional vneue (and first national) of the year I think a few might be headed there.

You have PM mate.

Andy, the tracks you guys layout are awesome and absolutely what we want

If clashes with other series are effecting numbers then we need more people in the sport, especially locally. We need to kick more of the playstation generation out of their bedrooms and get them into these events.

thats a great idea dude but doesnt help my/our predicament indoor racing costs too much to put on if we dont get the numbers then we will have to cancel its also far too much work for half a days racing if you get what i mean.

i realise that places like kiddy need to run aswell so we will have to rethink the our position if numbers dont increase

sorry guys might aswell be straiight with you all Andy

Andy,

I know it's not a lot of help to you know but for as long as I can remember the west mids winter series has been run 2nd & 4th weekend of the winter months @ Kiddy and Cov' respectively ..... might be worth planning around those next time ..... although no doubt there are other series local to you but in the other direction that run 1st & 3rd

It would be such a shame if you didn't hold your indoor meetings as I think that your venue is the best option we have in the southern counties.

I have just discovered the newbury club after being here a couple of years,it seems the only decent offroad racing in the winter I can find anywhere near me(even then its 1.5 hrs from me) seeing that Tiverton lost their excellent indoor venue.Would be a shame to see it disappear-the track etc is brill and a great venue for all kinds of racing, and seems to be run great. It is unfortunate that there are so many classes of racing going on up and down the country and not enough weekends.......

The cml track is great too but in the winter I like to be able to feel my thumbs sometimes!!I'm not totally up to speed with what the club runs touring car wise etc-but I guess if both classes were struggling for numbers the only way around it is to make a track where both can run..even though i'm sure the touring car drivers may prefer a track totally dedicated to them-as would buggy drivers-but hey........beggars cant be choosers and would be better than losing the venue totally surely?

I have to admit I enjoyed the last meeting you held. It takes around 90 minutes (no accidents or traffic on the motorway) for me to get there but was well worth it.

DMS did get a good turnout and ran once a month although as the off-road side dwindled, the dedicated buggy events were amalgamated with touring car.
The shop and venue was very well established at its height and maybe their location at the junction of the M1 and M25 made accessibility better for the racers.

Marc is going a great job with the shop and supporting the track but it takes time.
With the resurrection of clubs and new venues, it is a shame that high turnouts cannot be guaranteed for us all.

Bear in mind that this race date is the best part of two weeks off and that I am sure that more entries will be received. I am saying that on the basis that Ellis and I only made a decision at 9pm on the Saturday before as we were watching the weather and looking for a full days racing. Of course the weather stayed fine despite the forecast and Stotfold unfortunately lost out as Ellis and I went to Newbury and another guy who wanted to race outdoors dropped out altogether!

I wish you all the best as I have read the forums and seen that you have taken in comments left by the drivers. Not sure if you are interested but you could put in for next year's indoor finals if you have the space to accommodate the racers? Just an idea...

Nice post Matt - it's so weird that you've just mentioned about the Indoor finals as i was only saying to Lee this morning that Andy could easily go for that as they've always been up around Worksop / Leeds for as long as i can remember (even back when i was racing in the 90's) so i'm sure it could be possible at least..... The venue has got better and better each time, witht he rostrum as it is now too i think it's got even more potential with the larger track area!

Keep up the good work anyway Andy, we'll get there in the end

I think my local club are also trying to get an indoor finals for next year (2009) which is at Leominster (Hereford Club). They may be putting on a trial meet to see how it goes (in October of this year), but have successfully run 12th Nats (3rd one in feb) and a micro National meeting, so I think they just need to convince PaulW at the moment. The venue is excellent and will have jumps and ramps like Newbury, with both polished and slippery sections.

Was perhaps thinking of doing a indoor champs with both clubs participating?? Say 6 rounds with 4 to count, but one has to be at the other club say?? This may mean that your attendance at both meetings improve?

Just an idea

i really please that your club is doing so well and are planing some offroad stuff but i think this may well be the problem there is just too many clubs doing the same thing i think with you being so close all that is going to happen is you will take entries from us.

but hey hope it gos well

thanks Andy Bell

What I meant was that we run a championship with BOTH clubs involved. (Just do one away meeting to qualify for the champs...wouldnt matter which meeting). It is quite a long drive for me to come to all MK meets, but wouldn't mind doing one, as part of a championship, but I see your point about too many meetings being on!

See what members think at your next meet, I will ask around at our club as well to see what they think about the idea. Hopefully we can keep attendance up at both clubs then, as members would need to attend both clubs at least once!!

Say 4 meetings from 6, only 3 allowed at your local club?? (MUST do one away meeting).

the idea of a interclub champ is good but think of it this way

1st weekend eden park

2nd week kiddy

3rd week end stotfold

4th weekend cml

plus anu 8th scale thats going on as well every month

you have to decide when do we/ you run all these clubs can be driven to including yours with in 2 hours from both of us 2 hours is nothing for most racers all i would say is think before you set these meetings in stone.

we as a club have spent over £500 quid on timber to make the jumps i realise that we can use them for fridays but we still havent replaced the coffers yet and we have done 2 largeish meeting.

it has become very apparent to me that we are loosing clubs because of there being too many places to go not because nobody wants to race,
rc is so popular at the moment we as clubs need to think what we are doing before we put one another out of bussiness thats what im saying sorry if that sounds harsh but its the truth.

it is so much more expensive to put meeting on now when i was a lad we used to get trophies down to 5th or so in all the finals now the top three get a small one if there lucky this is down to what a meeting costs to run i hope you get what i mean im not having a go at you personally it just very frustrating when people are so desperate to run indoors they talk you in to running a championship then they decide to go to another club for what ever reason and this i think can only get worse if we set our selves in compitition with one another

This talk of inter club has got me thinking .......... how about a winter indoor national season? I know this isn't the best place to start that discussion but it could make sense ..... 5 months, 5 clubs (Newbury, Hereford, Worksop, Southend and somewhere else in an area not covered by the first 4 maybe) ... just an idea

As for what can be done by individual clubs it's a tricky one. When I started racing in the 80s I only went to one club for years but now people seem much happier to travel further to find different types of tracks. The problem with this is that either the clubs have to charge a lot to cover the costs of buying the equipment to build these tracks from just a couple of meetings per year or as Andy says they just put each other out of business. No easy solution as there are still plenty of people willing to just stay local too.
