Default What's the spec of this speedo???

I've been given an old Losi XXXCR. I'm going to give it to a friend to set him up in the world of 1/10th off roading!!! Its fitted with an old LRP IPC speedo, which works perfectly well (Its got absolutely naff batteries incidentally that will need replacing).

The car is complete and fitted with 40Mhz radio gear, so should be an ok 1st car. Therefore, I reckon its worthy of a new decent motor.

I'm trying to find out the spec of the speedo. So I know what type of motor it is capable of running. Can anyone help???

Apologies for the poor quality of the photos!!!

They did a few versions of that speedo, all of which looked quite similiar...

I don't know whether it is the super sport version, or full version. However, for someones first car, it might be worth trying a 19 (spec) turn motor. I think for sure that it would run this. That speedo did come with 'plug' in chips, which could turn down the power of the speedo (very useful for 2wd off-road).

Hope this helps,
Mark

Neaver had one, but you need a version number, possibly V6, V7, V7.1 etc.......

It'll probably have the same set up as a V6, V7.1 etc being the same shape and design, but the case looks a generation or too older in style. Actually the label is identical to a V6, but the case is black and it doesn't look like the shiney blueness has chipped off, so may have left the factory black. The V6 indicator sticker goes on the hump on the left of the speedo.

I have many many V6s and V7.1s.

The chips are quite useful. I ues them all the time.

Elliott.

Its looks older than the V6, I've had 1 V6 that i used for countless years and it worked perfect until i drove through what can only be described as a 'lake' when it was raining in batley outdoor. Would definately recommend it as a great speedo!

If it is part of the 'V' family they can run any turn motor and there are several chips you can put in to adjust the amount of power used. Without a chip it just gives everything it has if i recall correctly

It was the original version, excellent at the time. I think no motor limit at the time though bear in mind motors were nothing comparred to today.

I imagine it would take a 12 turn, especially in the hands of a beginer who won't be pushing it that hard, but a slower motor might be wiser for them.
