Were members consulted over date's as it appears that the 1/8th race calender was not viewed or considered, there are quite a few members now who do 1/8th as well and its a shame that they will not be able to support these meetings.
I no that the calender is rather full and it may be difficult to find gaps as there are limited Sunday's in a month (which is a shame).
Perhaps a review or consultation for next year on how we can try to accomadate more of the club members to attend these events.

Tony and others:

I understand your frustration!!!!!!

But Ill tell you what! if everyone supplies Rob their "working schedules, holidays, other racing classes, family commitments, weddings" etc we can create a plan of meetings that won't meet anyones needs as we would not beable to deliver any meeting at all. Need I say anymore??????

However I did:

Basically our committee is made up of 1/10th racers who support there local club week in week out. We do our best when considering dates and clashes with other formats and our members requests.

I did'nt see an email come my way from other clubs advising there dates and so forth?

These dates were published before other club meetings also not all publishing all their dates as well. Therefore why should we wait to publish ours dates to meet everyone else’s needs? If there was better collaboration between clubs this may have been improved.

Maybe a gate keeper of all dates could be managed next year and then planning will be more appropriate to all.

I appreciated the work Rob has done to find these dates with so much to consider. All the Committee were communicated these dates before they were published and were agreed.

Sorry this does not meet everyones expectation, but I’m sure this will not prove an issue with increasing numbers to the club over the all meetings going forwards.

Dates were set trying to spread them evenly across the 6 months.
Have avoided Mid South electric regionals and attempted to get SE regional dates but they were not available when we wanted to publish.
E-mailed Clanfield 1/8th club but no response and no dates on website.
Checked Slough (Remote World) 1/8th website and attempted to avoid their summer series – we have one clash with their summer series.

So yes, we did consider our members who race 1/8th and those who might be competing in electrc regionals but I cannot find weekends across the summer where there are absolutely no clashing meetings with other clubs or scales.

I can do little about peoples work commitments.

I think 2 ½ months before the first event is reasonable notice. If you are choosing to not attend because you are racing elsewhere then you are making a positive decision to race there, you are not being prevented from racing at TORCH.

Hi Neil

No, I have no further update to the replies in the SE Regional section on here. Sure they will publish as soon as they can confirm with the clubs.

Cheers

Steve - "Sorry this does not meet everyones expectation, but I’m sure this will not prove an issue with increasing numbers to the club over the all meetings going forwards." I think that is a little harsh and comes accross as we will increase numbers so does not matter if you come or not.

Rob - I think you have done a great job and you are both right that regular members should be given priority.

I think Tonys point was that you have quite a few 8th scale racers that would want to race so would of been good if we were asked if there were any specific dates that could not be made. It is a shame if the response is "you are not needed". I am long standing member of the club and only want the best for it

Dave

My point being that, the dates from our local 1/8th circuit were not available at the time and we planned our dates without that consideration.

However fair point Dave, give me and Rob a solution to this issue?

Needs of the many out weigh the needs of the few

The 1/8th drivers im aware race regulary at our track:

Tony Scott - Member
Cammers - Member
Dave Obrien - Member

Others who come now and then:

James Kerr
Hollyoak
John - Member
Grant
Jon wolfe
Crouch - Member

Its clear from this thread that some drivers chosen class is 1/8th and their second class and 1/10th.

The choice is yours where u wish to race at the end of the day and I would always prefer everyone being able to come to Torch!

Myself and Mike missed many opportunities last year with racing away and doing what we so wanted to do. But we put the club first and gave it our all over the Sumer and Winter to get where we are now.

I club is very relaxed and non threatening to other clubs. We only want to secure a more exciting future and maintain what the clubs culture as it has been for many years.

The way this thread has developed is agaisnt the principle the club was founded.

Lets keep to more local and less critical.

Steve

Steve, that was very harsh and rude, I stated that it would be good idea to consult for NEXT year not to ammend this calender.
I am a member of TORCH.
I was not rude in my statement just trying to highlight that some of us do more than just 1/10th racing and support other clubs as well.
You or any other commitee member only have to ask and i could of supplied you with dates for the other 1/8th meetings that some TORCH members will be attending, i know it's difficult to accomadate all members but it was only a suggestion to help benifit all clubs.

Steve i'll have a chat to you on Sunday if you want. I don't think it is doing the club any good discussing on an open forum.

I will chip in my .2 cents

My main class is 1/8th Rallycross.
I do 4WD 1/10th as some off weekend racing, or when I feel like it.
Its a shame a fair few of the dates clash with 1/8th scale meetings, but its always going to happen.

It's annoying that I will only be able to make a few of the meeting's but to me, its not my main class. So I cant complain, and I appreciate it's the 1/10th guys it suits more. Hopefully something can be worked out, dates wise for next series or so on. But I look forward to it.

Ok so now we are getting somewhere. The proposal seems to be that in future we’ll ask some of the 1/8th drivers when they have any spare weekends over the summer and plan things around them so they can “support” the club by attending some of the summer series meetings for us.

Let’s have a proposal put forward at the next AGM to that effective – the proposer and seconder will need to attend. Perhaps someone who also drives both 1/8th and 1/10th could volunteer to take over one of the committee posts in order that their views are heard? Don’t think it is going to be difficult to find a vacant post.

I have explained how I set the dates and if I am in this position next year (highly unlikely as this is quickly becoming a non fun activity trying to help arrange race meetings for others to turn up and race at) then I will probably do it on a very similar basis – if the local 1/8th track has published their dates by then I will definitely take them into consideration just as I hope they might do the same when they set their dates this year.

I repeat again, the published 1/8th dates were taken into account when these dates were set. They have not been set for the benefit of electric drivers.

I’d really like to keep this thread clear for information and updates for this years series. Mike – is it possible please to move the discussion around dates to another thread such as the comments/recommendations thread?

Rob

Re the questions about sponsorship and raffle, your questions are not being ignored, I just do not know answers at moment.

We have a committee meeting start of March and will try and sort out by then at latest.

Cheers

I would like to add that Steve, Mike Rob have done all they can to accommodate people and always have. As said before, we will never please everyone. I think people are forgeting that racing is also about having fun whatever class or track or club you are at. Most people will never be able to make all the dates for lots of reasons. At the end of the day its yours choice what club you are racing at each week so stop moaning and make that choice. HAPPY RACING
