Try a standard spur to eliminate that.

Though billed as the better spur, most of the team drivers ran the plastic ones I found out from Cree when we were running XXX4's. Th kevlar is is defo louder.

it is because it is a hard material, which although may last longer, generates far more noise.

Had the same problem on my xxx4, it had a kevlar spur and was really noisy. Changed it to a plastic one and it was fine.

The kevlar spurgears make way more noice then plastic.
Also check how the gears look in the gear box.
When they go bad it becomes loud as hell.

Cant say i have any problems with either spur gears on either of my cars..... How old are you pinions? They do actually wear out, also like someone mentioned, when was the last time you checked the layshaft and Idle gear? I tend to replace mine every 6 months.

Also, when you rebuild the gearbox, place a "small" amount of diff grease between the gears. Helps me.

Well i didnt really buy all my pinions in a big bulk but ive steadly bought them over a few years as and when i need them but the one ive got on now is a few years old but ive hardly used it it was for my touring car which i hardly ever used so it hasnt had much wear at all. As for layshaft and idler gear there brand new the cars only had 1 meeting and one club night. A little odd. I may try a brushed motor and a plastic spur see if that is quieter then see if that solves it.

Thanks danny and everyone

Ash,

It might be just down to the resonant frequency?
