Pinned slipper

Noticed a few references on here saying people are running their slipper with the pin in.

When I built the car the instructions said put it in more better acceleration response and leave out for better handling and turning ability. Seemed like a no brainer to me to leave it out based on this.

Is there some other benefit people are experiencing?

Would normally have just tried it myself but we have just ripped our track up to prep it for major improvements so no racing for a few weeks - be worth it when it's finished though

Remember the manual makes reference to the sort of tracks these cars are designed to run on, blue groove dirt tracks. The open slipper helps there by allowing the nose to bite hard as you lift off and the tail come around when you gun it. Perfect for the "down one side of a hose, 180deg and back up the other indoor dirt tracks" ... not so good on high bite astroturf tracks with flowing corners.

On our high grip tracks running the slipper without the pin can make it feel like the car is overdriven from the front, result a bit of on power understeer and a large reaction to coming off and on the throttle sharply mid corner.

With the slipper pinned it feels more like it's slightly rear biased drive wise so more on power steering and much less reaction to the throttle mid corner, makes it easier to be smooth.

Definitely try that once our track is ready - car was good but could have done with a bit more power on steering round sweeper at end of straight as I was having to back off more than I wanted to keep it tight.

Starting to build list of what I want to try - at least it will encourage me to help with the new track build!!
