Hi Guys,
Nothing special,,, I had plenty problems with the bolts fixing the original bracket parts,,, 6 screws breaked..enough. I know,, its matter of my fingers ![]() So I tried the HB D4 wing mounts with the D4 wing....fits great, no modd needed. It works, no more crashed wings and screws and looks not soo bad...(and lillbit lighter as the bigone ![]() Result... my X6sq still flies like a falcon....I love to jump ![]()

Sorry, not directly to this part, but from where did you get the blue aluminium things from the shocks? (I hope you know what I mean) Link would be great, too.

2 notes, you can fit longer than standard screws into the stock wingmounts, for a few more threads contact which meake it all VERY strong.
Also the blue aluminium shock collars are on upside down I think as the flange is there to centrally locate the spring so it doesn't rub on the shock body too much. Unless these ones have a flange either side. Dan

Hi Guys..
1st...it was not the matter of lenght of the screws,,, as I wrote,,, the screws breaked itself, not pulled-teared the thread- out from the plastic or crashed the plastic. Maybe the Asso bolts are too brittle???,,, hard to say. Good old metric works well or even better. 8.8 or 10.8 standard My X6sq for winter indoor will have complete Metric bolts....except wheels, slipper nuts. Ill use a brand new chassi. For me the Metric bolts are easier to get....thats all 2nd..... I use TRF shocks- blue collar. And why are they upside down?... hehe, I noticed that flanches, where the springs seats, fits too exact and during damping there is some spiral torsion phenomenon,,, means after the heat I had roughly 1,5 mm diference between the spring preloading. The upsidedown collars eliminated this....maybe Im wrong again, but for me it worx.

Perhaps you need a Box 'O Bolts. We make 'em especially for dedicated racers like you.

I found this pic,,, maybe the Dirt had similar problem?????- collars up side down,,,....hard to say. I think it depends what kind of springs you use...the inner diameter can be not always same- the coating decrease it and if you dont want tu rub the paint, it give sence to change the collars direction. @Chazz ![]() ![]()

sorry to ask again, but from where do you get the blue shock collars that RS Concept uses on his X6? Brand and part number would be nice, too.

Shocks are Tamiya ones - thus shock collars are blue.

Just as a comment on the original topic: the spacing of the holes in the rear tower will also fit Losi wing mounts.

YES the Losi cr or xxx4 wing mounts fit with no redrilling of anything i ran the losi mounts on the week end and they worked great the car is alittle bit lighter on the rear but im not convinced that they will last longer than the kit wingmounts! i had no problems with them but i think in very very slippery cond .. the kit mounts may give the car a little bit more rear weight over the wheels |

The X Factory wing mounts were designed to produce maximum downforce, first by eliminating flex in the wing and second by taking the clip assembly out of the main airlflow and "hiding" it in the dirty air behind the shock tower.
Put a 7" wing (max allowable) on the Losi wing mounts and it will flop all over, losing much of the effect. |

Hi Chazz,
Absolutely agree. The orig. wingholder + the orig. wing sure gives the best downforce of our lovely X6. And the most sofisticated wing is the X6 wing on the market. I think if somebody has issue with the holder, its only gorilla driving style. ![]()

I do love my Squrared's but I must admit the quality of the wing mounts is a little low compared to the rest of the car. The holes arn't in the middle of the moulding and the material is very hard.
I'm assuming the wingmounts are of the origional mould where nearly everything else has been re-designed when the squared was produced. If they were made out of a slightly softer plastic I doubt there would be much of a performance change but they would probably be more durable. I made sure I didn't break a wing mount by buying three spare sets. its always a gaurantee that if you buy loads of them you wont need them ![]()

That's interesting, I'm still on the same wingmounts I've been using since just after Ellis joined the team. He recomended we grind off the clip nobble and drill/tap a hole to use a screw to hold them down and I've never had to to another since. So 3 years on the same wingmounts I think.

Agreed, it makes the mounts a bit more durable. And the wing is really bolted firmly on.
BUT - it makes the wing itself trash in a very short while! Since there's nothing that "gives" anywhere the lexan wing gets a very short life... ![]() I also like the design of the mounts, I'd prefer them made from softer plastic that's all.

using an old wing or preferabbly some pieces of thick lexan as huge washers help alot too.
