Do you mean today (monday) or was this for yesterday (sunday)? Because if you mean today (monday) I might come down but I don't know much about B4's.

I'll not be down today, but am thinking of nipping down wednesday or thursday. I had some major electrical issues at Southport and need to fix them, but can't really tell how successful they are except on the track.

Today the track gates will be locked, because nobody with a key will be there. Just hop over them!

So is the Bury track open every day for a quick blast if you can just hop over the barrier?

Officially the track is closed except for race meetings. However its in a public park, so its not difficult to access the track. Most club members do nip down for a test.
As I said, technically you aren't supposed to be there, so if the park security try to turf you off you are on your own. However, since the park security are beyond completely useless that isn't going to happen, and off the record the club condones non-members using the track, and even recruits new members from the unofficial users.

Matt - the wiring was a mess because I had to change the servo and the esc because both seemed to be playing up. Then I realised it was the radio.......

They are both testing B4.1's. I'm only interested in potential new members really, so if its not a class we race, I don't suggest!
Does that mean we are now officially not running 1/8 electrics? I think most owners have sold them anyway, but I never thought they were a safe idea round Goshen anyway.

Cheers for the heads up Si Coe

Noticed on the Bury Metro calender that there is an Open - Fun Day on 8th Aug.
Do you have to be a member to attend or is this a try out day?

So is it just £18 per year to join or is there a cost for each race you enter too?
What do you get eg: Membership card, sticker, pass etc

Is 8 years old too young to get into racing? What is the average age and are there other young kids at the track?

Cheers,

An open/fun day is for everyone and if I remember correctly your first race is £free! If you come down on Sunday (I won't be there) but there should be around 10-15 people and at least one of them will be able to help you and you might even be able to race. If your car ever needs bodging back together so that it will finish the day just find Simon or Si Coe on here. Look for a Smart car with gaffer tape on the roof and Simon is the guy who looks like a science teacher with glasses. (That is because he is lol!)

When you become a member the racing only costs £3 per race but £5 for non members and then many many ££'s for parts and stuff.

I think at the moment I am possably the youngest racer (can someone correct if i'm wrong) and I am 15 nearly 16. I think 8 could be a little to young to race properly but it might mean that I am not always in last place.

Josh

Technically Connor Tyson is our youngest member, but since his dads work commitments have kept both away from the track for a while you won't have seen them!

There really isn't a minimum age - Matt B's son has a car and he's only 5, but so far doesn't race it. Really it was just an excuse for Matt to get a 2wd! I tried this excuse on my wife in order to get an SC truck, but since my son isn't even born yet (watch this space.....) she wasn't convinced!

Cheadle has a junior heat most weeks with most entrants primary school age, so there is no reason not to. For safety reasons however we'd prefer teenagers minimum for marshalling though, so if an 8 year old races you'll have to wrench and marshal.
