Default Advice on making jumps

Looking to make some buggy jumps for off road grass track (1/8th nitro and 1/10 electric). Any advice on type of material to use, height of jumps, spacing between jumps etc. Photos of jumps would be great.

Default big air

nice track dude. jumps would be cool
if using wood plywood is good . use shallow but long transitions and alter hight as needed. maybe adjustable.
look at keigthlys club section on here they run on a grass track with some BIG astroturf doubles. they are so rewarding and could be bigger. good work pal

Don't use wood. They work great for a while providing you build it right the first time but eventually rot and require repairs, you will only end up tearing it down.

Astro over dirt is great, you can sculpt the jump easily and the astro ensures it won't rut up over time and stay consistent. Building all dirt jumps are the best but require a bit of work and maintenance.

Thanks for the response.
Astro turf would be best but is expensive, may look at wooden jumps for the moment.

astro is expensive.
sometimes it can be free!
check out your local sports centres, cricket grounds etc. often they will have a bunch of old stuff they are happy to give away.

what about problems with moles or mice under astro turf on dirt, is mineral mixture or gravel a possible and good solution?

You can probably get either pretty cheap if you know where to buy. I made one for Dudley's micro national last year. Took ages to make the prototype, but about 2 days to make the second half. Wood will rot and can get damaged, but you could do things to protect it, but I've only done 1 jump myself, so I'm not the best to advise on this.

Default Jumps

Its not the height, material etc that makes a good jump its the profile of the jump ie taking off and landing. Other main problem you will have is that a good nitro jump will not be a good electric jump and vice versa so you will have to come up with a compromise of the best of both. Also once you have mastered these jumps which wont take long you will have to change them to test yourself.

Hope this helps
