Default Atsushi Hara's X6 from the Shootout

Found some pictures of the X6 run by Hara at the Hot Rod Hobbies Shootout race a few weeks ago.

The pictures are apparently taken at the Worlds track in Japan though where Hara's testing for HB....but seemingly not taking part in the race this weekend where the TRF team with Hupo and Marc as well as team Yokomo are participating.

There is only I think 6 of the 4 gear trannies about, and as he is not sponsored by X Factory he didn't get one!!

Also the 4 gear doesn't really make the car any faster, it just makes it easier to drive.

Not sure why he didn't use the motor support part but the camber extenders are not always needed, especially on dirt or slick surfaces.

Certainly will be, in fact I tried out the pre-production 4 gear housing yesterday. We should have them ready for sale hopefully around early September I think.

Yes,
The standard X-6 ones are great for the stock wing and for any flat wings, the Losi mounts are a direct fit and lower the wing a little too. I used the Losi mounts when I put the wing infront of the tower.

Its all down to preference, try it.

Default wing mount

I actually saw an x6 with the schumacher body on it and the wing was all the way up to the back of the body. it had space cut out for the shock towers. he used the stock wing mounts facing forward.

Many talk of the improvement by putting the wing there. any thoughts about this? would the losi wing mounts only be good for other wings or are then ok with the x6 wing?

thanks

haha...i dont know how you managed to make them fall off garry!

like chris sed, the X6 wing will fit with the Losi wing mounts ONLY if the wing is moved forward like some of the team drivers do..:

Was a good move that one eh, get the best angle for the sponsors and still make the corner after ....well at least I think I did

Personally I have never needed to run anything other than the standard X6 wing with various amounts of gurney. Moving it forward is a lot better especially if the ttrack has jumps though. Even in Finland with some big airtime jumps the standard wing was fine.

On a std 6 wing, use the std mounts. Moving the wing forward really makes it loads better, particularly jumping. Basically you want to move it as far forward so the mounts are on the flat part of the wing before it turns up at the back. The latest wings from X Factory actually have a new dimple at the back for this position. In doing this you either need to take a little bit out of the wing like Ellis does (to clear the top of the shock tower) or cut a section out of the front edge of the wing, like I do http://www.oople.com/rc/photos/south.../NO5E1237.html . Having tried Losi mounts at the front, I felt it was no better, looked worse and made getting the shell on and off difficult, I strongly advise the above.

Also I NEVER run the X6 wing with full rear gurney, usually only a little lip at the top of the angled section. Over winging it can make the balance really odd and jump very nose high!

Gary, when you say you kept ripping threads out do you mean you broke a set, then put in more new sets and kept breaking them, or broke a set, then kept glueing the screws in and the kept coming out???

We have found significant aerodynamic effects on off-road cars even at low speeds -- we think it's mostly overlooked. We've done a number of things to make aero a big part of our cars. The X - 5 has that big kick-up at the rear of the body. Try running the car with the wing but no body; the rear gets really loose in any corner.

Our wings are as big as the rules allow with the sides angled in to increase pressure and lots of cut lines so it's easy to set the Gurney. On the X - 5 there are three mounting positions, two on the X - 6 wing.

The # 3500 wing mounts, which fit both cars, are widely spaced to hold the big wing steady. We found that a big wing flops around on the standard Losi wing mounts, losing much of its effect, and our wide mounts cure that. The wide mounts also put the body clips & etc behind the tip of the shock tower in already turbulent air, leaving more clean air on the total wing surface.

Our drivers carry several different wings for each car so they can quickly try out different Gurneys on any lay-out.
