Default Question about Lifepo4 or a123 cells and racing

Just wondering if maxamps or A123 racing with 2250mah 6.6v LiFe battery will have enough capacity for a 6min 4wd buggy race?(i have a durga)

I think i might have to go with 1 lower wind in order to compensate for the lower voltage, so maybe a 5.5t!??(its a slippery track)

well, it depends on the type of track etc, but it would be close.

2250 mah, 6 mins, very doubtful with a 5.5t motor, remembering u'll already be going slower than u were with a lipo/nimh in the car anyway, and u'd have to hope the battery actually put out the full 2250mah and dont do any practise laps, i run 17.5 stock and usually use around 1800 mah in a 5 min race, most mod guys use similar amounts in a 5 min race, adding an extra 20% race time would be close, expect to dump a bit unless ur soft on the trigger

I use ~2700mah in 7 minutes on average on high grip carpet tracks with a 5,5T, so I'd say its cutting it too close.

Life or lithium ion will be the next battery technology.
I just dont much care for the Lipo era. A123's are good cells too.
A123 batteries are used in hospitals. Now they are for RC.
A123 have been out for a while, while Life is just getting started.
It's just impossible to make a life or A123 into a saddle pack
without modifying your chassis.

That's why Ive stayed with high capacity nimh for now.
I run 5000 elite nimh packs in my 501x. Have good punch and lifespan.
I keep up with the Lipo guys fairly easy.
After all it all comes down to the driver, not the pack your running.
