Default DB01 rear suspension mount screws

Hey dudes

sorry to bother you all again, but ive just noticed after doing a few weeks of club racing, the screw heads under the chassis that hold the rear suspension mount on have copped a real hammering and im using tony's screws, one of the hex's at this stage i cant get a hex driver into, the rear suspension mount itself is worn too, i didn't think i was running my ride height too low, but i may well be, what sort of ride heights are you boys running and have you encountered a similar issue as i have, there are a few big jumps at the local club ive been racing at, but i tend to land on the down slope, so i dont end up with too many hard landings on the flat

thanks

I run with driveshafts level and a soft setup. The back end of mine gets a bit of hammer but not so much that its killing the screws, but I am running the carbon parts so maybe they wear better?

I also run with my drive shafts nearly level.. I have found that the pounding your shock mounts take (screws etc) is a lot more dependent on proper oil pressure in your shocks than anything else. If your shocks bottom out too easy, then the mounts and screws are going to take a terrible beating..

Proper oil pressure doesn't refer to 'oil weight', it is how much additional oil is in the shocks to increase the pressure against the piston as it is compressed. You want your shocks to be very hard to bottom out. This will help quite a bit.

If you can, try switching to the Atomic Carbon shock mounts for the DB-01. They are fantastic and you can install the screws in the same fashion as the 501X/511X making the shocks much easier to remove and work on.

Cool, by that do you mean mounting the rear shocks behind the shock tower instead in front of it?

Not exactly, but I like your thinking.. The DB-01 does not have clearance to allow the rear shocks to mount behind the tower... I kind of wish it did though, so we could take advantage of the 511X type mount.

What I meant is that you can run a longer screw through the back of the shock tower, hold it in place with a nut, run the shocks along the screw and then use the plastic nuts to hold the shocks in place - same as the standard 501X/511X in the photo below.. I did this with the Atomic Carbon towers for the DB-01..

I've run my shocks behind the tower using the atomic carbon rear tower and the 511 rear wishbones, no problem at all.
Once I get the car back together I'll get some pictures sorted.
