Question

Shy,
Great idea, going to try to do the same thing to my 'old' XX4 and revive it again!
I was looking at your other tips and tricks and had a look at XXX CR dif in X5 or XX4 but I got the message that the account was suspended.
Any possibility to revive this specifc trick again?
Thanks

This is just the type of solution I needed yesterday, when at a meeting my clicker expired and was locked, but there was no way of removing the clicker from the shaft although annoyingly it can almost be done! Needless to say it was a good hour and a missed qualifying heat to get it sorted. The car looked virtually like an unbuilt kit at one point with screws everywhere. Don't get me wrong the xx4 is a great car to drive but it is a pig to maintain quickly.

Just one question, is the diagonal cut to the main rear cover really worth doing as well as the one near the servo?

Rob, you had your own stuff to deal with trying to clear the unclearable jump! It took longer than it should have cause one of the long screws in the rear bulkhead was fooked. It was just one of those shit, I want to give up days, and pulled out in the final as was getting mullered by nnumpties!

Thx guys!

Yes, a lot of the old tips were on the old X-Factory forum. Which is now gone. But Paul Sinclair has kindly sent me a backup of the old forum, and I'll try and revive it. Just gotta learn a bit about PHP and mySQL first...

Not really, no. It saves you very little time. I bought a used set of top covers from the US, and it was already cut by the servo. I was originally only planning the diagonal cut as seen on the oOple XX4 review. But I thought - hey! Let's do both... At least with only the cut by the servo you need to unmount the servo in order to change the middle belt, which is not good. So with only one cut I'd prefer the diagonal one. Maybe this proves that the brits are more intelligent than the americans?

Sorry fella, wasn't pooh poohing your idea, it solves alot of problems, good to see posts like this. Long live the xx4 I say, it's legendary and has to be the benchmark by which all cars are designed geometry-wise, not that I'm biased or anything!

I guess he used epoxy putty in some places.
Be a nice mod to anyones car, to check belt wear without taking
the whole car apart.

Hi dude !

I'm very pleased to read such a mod done by your labs

Very nice and smart ideas indeed. I like the inspection window principle a lot.

Yeah, it would be great if you could bring back to life the old tips everybody put on the old X-Factory forum

Olivier
