Default A Different MidRat ;)

take a look at the cad drawing attached i hope to make this out of 3 layers of 2mm alluminum bolted together to form the chasiss more detales will follow hopefully

Looks interesting.. although the mounting points for the front end need to be a total of 5mm... the thickness of the front kickplate is 5mm at the mounting points...

So... if you do make it as you have stated the front kickplate will not be "flush" with the rest of the chassis.. if that makes sense??

Nice idea though

ahh yes i see now i will have to maybe move them up to the top layer or change the thickness of the lower peice

You could also make the lower layer of the chassis out of stainless steel.. keep the weight low down

How are you going to cut it etc etc??

I plan to get mine lazer cut eventually if the car works well

i will mill the first one then again if it works well i will get it lazer cut or water jet cut

i hear Toyota are in need of advice when it comes to the design of there new accelerator peddles........some freelance work????

What about reversing the motor direction? Are you going to let the ESC do it? Trouble is then the motor torque will go into the front wheels or are you going to use an idler like the CR2SE to allow the torque to go into the rear wheels? At least you will have less chance to break the alu chassis, well we have yet to see

ha grant it will be a idler i think the first run will just be using the esc though to test

Ive been speaking to a few guys at my club regarding my car and things are looking up, ive added an extra idler gear to mine, screwing it into the top motor screw hole in the motor plate, ill be making a new motor plate soon hopefully, similar to that of the cr2, so that that i can use i variety of pinions.

When the new motor plate is done, if you want one let me know, then you can make your car 4 geared too
