Default Lazer-zx5 FS or B44

Both have good part support overhere but associated is a little better(canada)

Any reasons i should pick one over the other?

Heres my list of criterias

I will be racing both in and outdoors.

It will be my first time racing.

I think i may like a less nervous buggy

I will be using lipo batteries.

Durable.

I "think" that the Kyosho may be slightly more durable, but hardly any difference in it.

Associated will be easier to setup (setup sheets and data available), and will probably have more 'mates' trackside, if you catch my drift...

50/50...go with your gut instinct. I have had kyosho and associated cars in the past, and both very good/strong etc.

With regards to value the b44 wins hands down. Over here the Lazer is £80 more than the b44 and the b44 is carbon fibre not carbon plastic. Thats not to say the Lazer isn't a good car, it just seems a bit overpriced compared to a b44. My Dad used 2 b44's and trust me, they take some hammer.

Just out of curiosity...Are twin CF plates stiffer when compared to plastic carbon composite?

I've not had a B44 but have had a BJ4WE. For me the Kyosho car is much easier to drive, more stable, easier to set-up and easier to work on.
To be 100% honest the B44/BJ4WE is right at the bottom of the list of prefered cars.

If both have equal support I'd go for the Kyosho for sure.

Durability is very good on them now (first ZX5 less so but the SP / FS has that sorted).

The price issue here in the UK is due to many issues such as exchange rate and distribution chain etc. and probably doesn't apply to you over there.

With regards to these aren't you into Cat SX price territory? If so another one to consider?

If it was me I prefer the ZX5 looks, but stilly money. Most of the new 4WDs I have seen at Titchfield recently have been B44s

Get the FS then, one turned up to our club a few weeks back, and over the very worse part of the track, I'd say it was better then everything bar my Durango

Whereas the B44 I had last year

Hi Roger,

thanks for the support.
We checked the prices recently of all our competition cars and now they are all in the right price bracket for the UK.
thats part of our plan to win back some sales in the UK.

BTW i just spoke to Butch (Simon Willets) got 2nd today with the FS at the proline dirt area, first time out for him with the car he was over the moon as he knows he could have won,

Neil, sorry mate I didn't mean that negatively at all. You guys don't have any control over the £ - Yen and the fact that supply chain to the UK has worse shipping costs than supply to the US.

I'm still very happy with the spares prices for most parts of the Kyosho cars and relative to the likes of Yokomo etc. everything is compares well.

I still have great faith in the cars and as I always tell everybody in my opinion the RB5 is the best 2wd car I have ever driven (since 1985ish).

No Need to apologise Roger,
You are correct about how the Global economy affected prices.
But now we have managed to get the price back down to equal the competition.
We expect retail to be under £300.00.
I cant say for certain as we dont set the retail prices.
I think last year they was selling for £360 plus.

Not too bad when all you need is in the box.

I don't think it was that close really? It's only a 14 second lap so it will seem close if someone can get near the same lap times but i thought Lee was quickest anyway?

Don't get me wrong Si was driving very well and looked extremely comfortable back doing 1/10th again but i'm just saying i don't think it looked like he was actually going to beat Lee - Certainly close on pace but not close enough

His car did look good on track there, very smooth. BUT, i do think that if there was more pace needed off the tq man it would have been there.
Both drove well but i'm gona whoop you both at the next one

So you gentlemen seem to be leaning more towards the lazer!?

What is the handling nature of each car?
