got a ex con b4 ft and just bought my x6 squared kit. Do i need to buy the e-speed motor plate brace? Wouldnt a longer screw and a nut work just as well? I dont mind buying parts that make a difference but not bothered about spending just on bling. Are the hangers really necessary?
Ive got the longer axles and extra bearings but do i NEED to buy anything else?. Ive decided im running ae shocks by the way |

The plastic motor brace flexes some. The ESpeed brace takes away that little bit of flex.

everyone seems to be moving to plastics nowadays to get a bit more flex so does that little bit matter?

Your suggestion works with bolts and nuts, that's currently how my truck is as I've never got round to getting the E speed one.
Honestly though, assuming you're UK based the hangers ARE essential really yes, they improve the handling significantly. I don't run the AE shocks but you've be wise to try to get as much droop as possible with them which if you wind the bottoms out and run no limiters means you'll need the optional axles. That's assuming you're running outdoors, if you're an indoor only guy this is not so essential.

Yeah you don't need a dremel for anything more than on any other car now. It's true than on the old car you NEEDED one really for the steering and to it a large brushless speedo in but that's not the case on the squared where everything fits straight off.
EDIT, I have radius'd the clearance for the motor screw on mine so its easier to get the driver I use in. Most people don't do this though.

Oh dear!!! We "trim" the smallest piece of plastic away (almost like trimming flashing from a moulded part) and now a dremel is essential. Some of you do have a sense of humour...........
![]() I would much prefer to remove a smidge of plastic than to have to source rare as hell/discontinued parts from the early 1990's to make my car the latest spec!!!! ![]() ![]() (Maybe some people are not skilled enough to use a dremel) ![]()
