Motor Advice and Hello

Hi all,

I am looking to come along and have a try at indoor racing once you have moved across to Seaham.

I am just looking around buggy wise for a 1/10th scale to buy and just wanted to check what are the rules regarding motors - are brushed and brushless both allowed? I don't think i can afford to buy brushless to begin with but didn't want to get a brushed one and find out that I can't race with it. Thanks please kindly let me know?

Hi Simon, you can use any motor you want brushed or brushless, Iam sure the 1st meeting is this sunday 10am-3pm(sure someone will confirm) If you fancy coming along we will see you there.

Cheers guys, will be a few more weeks yet as still sorting the buggy out, on the hunt for a motor and ESC now, what sort of set-up would you recommend for Seaham, is it still an indoor venue, would a 5.5 or 6.5 be the best to go for? I am a total beginner and just learning so don't want anything too fast or too restricting if you know what I mean.

Hi Simon, yes it is an indoor venue, even a 6.5 is going to be fast you might want to concider something a bit slower, what buggy are you going to be running?

A Kyosho Lazer ZX-5, please could you recommend the type of motor I am wise to look at?

Don't suppose anyone you know in the Jarrow/ Seaham club has a motor and ESC for sale at a reasonable price to get me going do you?

Also looking for batteries, don't think i can afford Lipo so it will be NiMh.

I would start with about a 8.5 or 14t brushed until you get the hang of it, they will still be quite fast, I don't know of anybody at the moment with stuff for sale, if there is I'am sure they will put a post up, maybe keep an eye out on here or ebay for second hand stuff, as for the batteries would it not be more cost effective to buy 1 lipo rather than a few packs of nimh? just a thought.....
