Question LRP TC SPEC, X11 5.5T on TRF501XWCE

Hi,

I know this might have been covered before, but I can't find an exact answer when using the forum search....

Yesterday evening I was running my car, with the X11 5.5T on a LRP TC SPEC. I am using the WCE kit spurs and pulleys, so I can use jimmy's gearchart.

Jimmy's gearchart told me I had to use a 18T/91T pinion to get the 1:10 ratio recommended in the X11 manual for 4WD off road.

So I started out running a 18T pinion, but after one run, everything was extremely hot. Even my Lipos where hot and I had one trackpower cell blowing up. Motor temp around 71 C.

So could you give me some pointers on how to solve this? Am I doing something wrong with my pinion ? Do you guys use cut outs in the bottom shell ? Or perhaps a motor fan ?

Suppose some of you guys also use this combo, so what pinions are you using ?

Thanks...

That seems a tad overgeared, Im running a 501WE too with a 96t spur and 16t pininon with a 6.5 X12 with the same ESC and lipos and the temps are fine. Its as fast as any other car down the straights with plenty of punch out of the corners.

I've been running an X12 5.5 and Sohere comp, started on 15/91 and have ended up on 17/91. It does get hot in there though, I'd definitely use the shell vents.

Last winter with an x11 5.5 was on 15/91 though and it gave me plenty, so would drop from 18.

I have cut out the vent holes, and have been using a 18T with 91T spur, since the 16T/17T combo is very hard to find here... Someone who has been running the RC cars for a long time now, pointed out to me I had some diff slippage.

We have been working/testing last night to have the diff slipping solved and since then the temp has gone down. Seemed the diff screw unlocked itself due to the fact that the pressure bearing was getting stuck due to insufficient greasing... I had rebuild the diffs and forgot to grease the pressure bearings. I'll keep that in mind next time. Since I greased the pressure bearing the diff screw stay locked... thank god

Is the center double slipper any good and worth buying, since this isn't cheap ?

Just one final question... On the LRP you can set different power profiles. For sintered 1-3 is suggested, but which ones do you use ? I have mine on 5 and like the way it is handling... Does the power profile influence heat generation in a negative way when you select a higher value?

Thanks
