Default Cat SX 37.5mm link, springs, where to buy ?

Went 8th scale racing today but as the weather was cold horrible and wet i headed home early and built my new Cat SX, took just over 4 hrs from start to finish and was a nice car to build. Im really impressed with it so far. Just the bodyshell to do now and its pretty much ready to roll.
Im copying the setup chris long posted in the setups section as ive been told its good for the slippy floor racing im doing. My car came with the short rear link hardware and i want to change this to the 60mm turnbuckles with the 37.5mm carbon plate. Im also looking for some grey & red springs and finally some two hole pistons. Im struggling to find anyone with them all instock anyone have any suggestions ? I need the stuff for tuesday this week so have to get them sorted asap. After spending an hour on the DMS website ive found some of the stuff i need but gave up on the rest. MK racing only have the pistons in stock. Schumacher direct have everything in stock bar the turnbuckles so these seem the best bet so far, anyone know how quick they are at sending stuff out ??

Jimmi.......

Schumy are ace at delivery. Their turnbuckles are weak and too short for the longest link.I bought mine at Worksop when a guy that wasnt racing told me that they would be the ones that i needed. It was Robin Schumacher. The Schumy ones are 53mm. You need 60mm.Try Lundsford.Im sure DMS told me that they had some lundsfords in stock.

In my kit there was an ammendment sheet that gave the part numbers for the fifferent links and parts. There is a part number for a schumacher 60mm link which i searched for the the site and they where out of stock anyway. I have no problems with lunsford ones, think ill fone DMS 2moro as i can age while searching for stuff on the website !!

Just type in the part number from your manual on the site and it will come straight up!!!

Failing that type "Cat SX" in our search and all the Cat bits will come up, it is not "that" hard

Problem is we have it all in and hence our list on the site is one of the biggest, if we had less stuff there would be less to look through but nothing in stock.......

Anthing ordered tommorow will leave tommorow too.....

No mate, if its on the site, its an item we have had in at some point or another "at least", if its not then its an item we have "never" had in. Things only get added to our site once in stock (apart from previews of new kits etc), they then get delted as they become obsolete and we run out of stock

We dont use a stock level indicator since we have not come across one yet that actually works properly and doesnt cost £1,000s (which would only end up being passed on to the customers) SO many people tell us that they have ordered from places who show stock levels and STILL they get bits missing from their orders since they are out of stock yet showing as available when they ordered etc, we are not interested in that sort of system for our customers in the slightest

Anyone who has used us will vouch that our stock levels are extremly high and far more often than not if we list it, we have it! (If we dont it is probably becasue the supplier doesnt have it too)

Try us out, and see for yourself what "you" think of the price's, delivery time and stock levels....

Hope that helps, Darren

Schumacher have 60mm turnbuckles in, but in Gold only.

If I want a 0n3-way diff, do I need to order the complete diff assembled (showing not in stock on Schumacher site) or can I make it up of parts myself? If so, what parts do I need to order?

The one way diff is a complete part in itself, just one part number and it comes assembled ready to drop in.

I got the springs, 37.5mm plate and pistons i wanted sorted last week, came direct from schumacher. Struggled on all week to try and find a one way pulley and 60mm turnbuckles. One of my pals managed to pick me up the pulley yesterday from a mobile shop at one of the meetings. Im just going dizzy trying to get a pair of 60mm turnbuckles, noone has any instock. I like this cat but it seems everything ive tried to buy for it has been a nightmare to find which is far from ideal. The cat is a british car and everything ive tried to get has been difficult. Anyone have any ideas before i lose heart and go back to a car i can get parts for ?

To be fair to Schumacher, I think the 60mm titanium turnbuckle is about the only part we cant get from them at the moment for the car, 1 part out of stock is not that bad.

The ironic thing is, when you were talking about placing your order with us last week that went direct to Schuey instead, we had 3 pairs of 60mm turnbuckles in stock.....

I spoke to someone at DMS last week about ordering the stuff i needed, i was told the one way pulley i was looking for was out of stock so i looked elsewhere as i would rather order everything i need from one place. One way diffs are out of stock at schumacher too and a couple of other things i looked at most of which wherent significant. Its only my opinion but if a manufacturer is out of stock of parts what hope is there ??
I have managed to get a hold of some 59mm turnbuckles from bolton model mart where all my 8th scale stuff comes from so im up and running and looking forward to using the car now.
Jimmi....

Hi Jimmy

Have you checked with Schumacher about stock of there steel ones? Just to use in the interim? Also, what I did was fitted a longer turnbuckle end to the 53mm ones, just whilst I waited for stock.

Paul

Schumacher did and does have 60mm turnbuckles in stock. Not Ti ones, but they are there.

http://www.racing-cars.com/products.asp?recnumber=337

Are the 59mm ones you found at Bolton Model Mart Ti and purple?

Lots of it, they're not stockists for this purpose, end user stock is at the hobby shop..

Well the manufacturer sells its stock in bulk to the retailer to sell to end users in small quantities. So-what if Schumacher don't have stock, thats probably because they sent them to some of the shops. Rather than going direct to Schumacher (who are a manufacturer/distributor - not a stockist) you should try the local hobby shops who are geared up to stock parts and deal with the small order/end users.... you've started at a good place, DMS, unlucky & unfortunate that you need something they don't have, but don't go switching cars, its a minor hicup - have patience and you'll love the SX when it is on the track. Try PBM racing next for whatever is left that you need.

In the short term, without the longer turnbuckle - just put a cheap Losi ballcup on the short turnbuckle.

Well done jackwood on finding those steel turnbuckles, i had searched for non ti ones and couldnt find any. However im confident the ti 59mm ones ive found will do the job until some schumacher get the proper ones back in stock.
I tried everywhere i could think of to get a hold of the turnbuckles i needed, PBM incidentally wouldnt answer the fone all morning and was engaged all afternoon. I understand what chrislong is saying about the end user should be sourcing parts from shops but there is very little chance of them holding stock of something the actual manufacturer has ran out of.
What is even more annoying is that had i bought the cheaper S1 cat it would of came with the long rear link setup as std, the phil booth one also does. The kit model that i bought which i would of thought the majority of racers will buy doesnt come with the longer link or the revised setup that the other cars do which seems silly to me.
But the car is all set up and finished now, it looks really nice and i hope anything i need in the future for the car is nice and easy to find...I might even put some pics up in the cat picture thread.
Jimmi.......

Yeh get some photos up! They look lovely don't they? I want a shelf queen LOL

The 59mm ones will be fine, no worries with that.

I presumed Schumacher would be out of stock due to their stock already sold to the shops, sorry if you've looked high and low already - it sounds like they have held back on those turnbuckles while they make up those prebuilt kits.
