Default It's Time

Its time for me to have a go at the old lazer ! sorry newish lazer ! I heard all the stories ! Seen all the broken bits ! but alas I gotta have a go !

Lets start with the cheap and cheerfull RTR and see what we can do !!

First meeting !

totaly stock bar 19T motor and 40meg receiver.
bought 3pm PBM's racing 6 pm Broxtowe---
Must say it went well out of the box with just an old 19T and a
40meg reciever. No chance to tune it but it ran all night and took
some bangs aswell. Everyone thought it would end up in bits? but
I think it was the only 4wd to actually finnish all the rounds ????????

Now onto the next stage lets hit 3 RACING Hong Kong !

Shockers ditched for some rebuilt Option house gold ones "Totaly Retro "

3 racing steering belcrank system "ballraced"
Front whishbone hangers
Rear whishbone hanger
Tie rod plates front and rear
Shock tower mounts
carbon shock towers
Motor Mount

The only thing i will get now are some steel outdrives then it will be ready for broxtowe and mansfield !!!
oh and petit rc in january !

Might be an idea to pick up a few sets of front c-hubs and knuckles too. I know these are the most broken thing on mine.
Loving the car by the way, I am still running the stock ZX-5 but an SP will be mine over the Christmas period I think.

Great job! I'm running mine with rear-mid conversion set installed and still doing pretty well. I had aluminium shock stays but changed back to plastic (from SP kit) as aluminium always tends to bend instead of breaking. The SP plastic ones are improved over the original ones in strenght of material.

cheers

Just out of interest how close is the cost of all this to the price of an SP kit which is strong and awesome to drive straight out of the box?

The main reason I ask is that there are a fair few lads at club with the RTR and I keep seeing breakages that I just don't see on the SPs and I have been asked a few times about what to do and I always recomend getting the SP kit.

In total I would say about $150 but these are things that you would probably get for a normal SP "apart from front hubs "

I have tons of spares now and am considering building a FS up aswell.

Now should I use most of the alloy bits on the FS or keep them on the ZX5 and run them back to back ????

Forget about the FS - the std chassis is fine.
Forget about the out of date car you've just spent a fortune on! Buy an SP and never look back All the good features of the std car, but with more stability and much more thrashable

Let me know how you go on with the 3Racing shock towers, I'm thinking of getting them but I don't know if they're any stronger than the stock plastic or carbon plastic ones. I run a 501xWE normaly so the Lazer is just for the 'rough' meetings so its got to be strong.

All that bling Mr Bond. May have tart up the DURGA oops sorry forgot don't need any of that stuff to stay in front of you, and in front of the CAT SXs and in front of the the B44s. Then again i can allways downgrade to the DF03 to give you a chance.
