Default Schumacher Minipin Q

Has Schumacher changed something in the compound i the yellow minipin?
They were down so fast now and they didnt do that last winter??

we have a rule in the cup we are running that you are only allowed 1 set
off rear tires and they are quite bald after 4-5 rounds.

they used to last longer than that

any ideas any one?

At our club we use 21mm Yellow minipins for on road indoor racing ( wooden floor )

Really, if you want good grip then you need a full set of tyres every week ( 3 races and one practice )

I agree, they dont seem to last as long as they used to. I suspect its partly to do with the advent of brushless/lipo. They are sure to wear down at a quicker rate due to the increase in power and the way that its delivered.

I completely agree, whether intentional or not last winter the compund changed and they wear twice as fast with no more grip. Worksop aside you can easily smoke a set of rears in 2 runs over here.

Best bit of advice i can give you is:
  1. Place left thumb or right index finger on a table. (stick or wheel dependant)
  2. Take a hammer (ideally a big one)
  3. Raise the hammer
  4. The next step needs some self confidence!
  5. Contact needs to be made from the hammer to the thumb/finger.
  6. After that you will feel a numb sensation
I call it throttle control.

with lipo they wear less! As there's less weight on them, but the compound is a little softer now I think and no more grip than the older ones and with the power brushless gives they seem to wear twice as fast as last winter, a set of tires would last 2 or more meetings before they wern't competitive anymore, the pins did seem a little less in quality and thinner too at one point which made them wear quicker but now the pin quality has got better and seems to be more flat and wider like last years and lasting a little longer as just nearing the end of summer a set on my 2wd and 4wd was usefull for only 1 meeting where now they last atleast two now for me
