Cheeky fooker! It was 18 years ago when i had me first one. Then bought a gte in 1994, spent about a million quid putting a 2.0 16v in it. Only to roll it while driving like a silly bugger, then spending another million quid reshelling it cos i was only third party insurance. But when your younger you do silly things.

Mind tho i have two mates who are both in there 30's and they still have theres..

Ill have a word with my uncle he buys and sells lots of nova's he has had basics to GSI's to GTE's Diffrent colours you name it he's had it ill see if he has any of his for sale. He will sell one then buy another one sell one buy another one. He buys them and returns them to either original spec like they would come out of the factory or the ones for him he chavs up.

if looked after properly, novas are awesome little cars. my first car was a 1 litre nova - got me from cardiff to halifax in three and a half hours for the tamiya eurocup finals.

I absolutely caned the nuts off that car. the only problems I had was water ingress into the distributor cap. cover that bad boy in vaseline!

get a gte and strip it out. please, for the love of god, don't go chavving it out with a mahoosive stereo

I want one because there ace

More interested in a semi decent shell than an engine as theyre 10 a penny.

Will definately not be chavved up, may be used as a track car in the end!

Staying as a 1.2 or 1.0 for now

Will get a c20let calibra engine when funds allow!

Rot seems to be a problem, are they as bad as they look?

Why dont you go for something a little more modern, 106's can be picked up for peanuts, they handle better and spares will be readily available, u think even the nexest Novas are getting on for 15 years old now

There are a handfull of 3 door Novas on Ebay for cheap.

I had a tweaked 1.5 Turbo Diesel,it was good for 130mph down hill on the clock, driven steady returned 55+ to the gallon.
SRi Vectra discs and calipers fit if you put 14 inch wheels on,mine would do stoppies and Michelin energy tyres squealed in the wet, they had that much grip.Superb little car,i was gutted when some scroat got past the security and nicked it

Engine was awesome... C20XE running SBD TP208 throttle bodies..

A video of it on the rollers can be found here..(click on 'movie' next to my car which is bottom right on the list..)

Nick, thats a very tidy Nova. Like it!!

Old Skool is cool, good choice.

Id keep an eye on Ebay and don;t be affraid of travelling a bit to view a potentially good one.

Nah, like has been said, the youngest one is 15 years old now and just you try to find an equivalently nice Ford Fester - they are nowhere near as easy to get hold of. Even back in the day we used to think that Nova's were actually pretty rot resistant compared to the other (crap) stuff available like Uno's. Pre 1994 Polo's were more bulletproof but they're bloody horrible to drive although some will swear by them.

Personally I couldn't get comfy in any Nova that wasn't and SR or GTE/GSi as only they had normal seat runners. Boggo models had stupid rise and fall things that tilted the seat base as it goes back and forth and I found that it was bloody uncomfortable when I had it set at the right distance from the pedals. Its something I've never found in any car before or since and back then (1990) it was a big deal but I suppose now you could sort it with a trip down to the breakers and some spanners.

Happy hunting.
