Smile Need Ideas and Opinions! :)

I was talking the other day with a couple of racers who race at blackpool and we were considering doing a massive winter indoor buggy series!

Now not only would this be amazing if we could get this together to work but very good for the club!

So any ideas on a name for the series, how it should be scored, prizes (if any), classes and rules ?

Begin discussion

i was thinking in regards to classes we do a 13.5 boosted or blinky class and then a open class in both 4wd and 2wd ,

How about the Blackpool Indoor Track CHampionship ?

I'd like to see some kind of team competition.

How about having an endurance type team race with only 1 battery allowed so the aim is consistent driving - you then balance the performance etc vs the power consumption?

So the winner is the team that covers the most laps but not necessarily in the fastest time (in the event of a distance draw then it would be down to average speed).

You could cap the race time at a total of say 20 mins or maybe less in 5 or 6 minute stints to protect cars and drivers?

It would make for an bit of a different challenge?

I would email schumacher, horizon hobby, much more uk and cml asking if they want to sponsor a winter series at a permanent track, and these would give gifts for either a raffle or prices for final positions in the meetings

Contact mike smith on central booking to make booking in via that.

Have only one group (open motor) for each class so there would be more competition in each, so just 2wd and 4wd.

work out dates, and get as much of the new ideas for impressive track (different surfaces and jumps etc) sorted out now so you can take impressive photo of the track for advertising.

Then publish information about the championship on oople, and send it to red rc and petit rc, and make fliers to give to racers who might go to other events, so many people can know about it, also get booking in to open as soon as possible.

Make it either a weekend meeting, or have it so that it says that for every sunday meeting, the track will be open all day on the saturday for practise.

might not be right on these but this is what i'd do for a start

Following on from Andy's comments I'd advise making sure the date doesn't clash with either Chadderton or Worksop as they are the big 2 winter series.

Thats cool andy do you have a link with the dates of both of them?

Niall if you can get all the dates for them 2 and make sure the dates don't clash with any, and then try to avoid 12th nationals for the locals who run them, but take andys series as the ones to fully avoid..

If you can get all of them dates asap, putting a list of dates down and getting them out there now would really help your cause as people will make plans soon!

I'd suggest about 6 rounds running between either september-febuary or october-march.

cheers
