Unhappy Schumacher tyre quality fallen again?

Wasn't too happy to find that a brand new set of rear mini pins lasted 5 races this weekend with the fronts worn alot more than usual also has schumacher lowered the quality of tyres yet again? i'm starting to want to find some other manufacturer to look to for tyres now indoors and outdoors.

Hi Mike,
Where did you get them from?

I had some tyres in my box from last year and they looked used from new, and didn't work very well. New tyres bought on Sunday (new stock) had better formed spikes and gripped far better, it looks like Schumacher's quality is raising, not falling.

So the tyres you bought may be older stock, its a shame you used them so much as id suggest sending them back - may still be possible to, but personally I don't expect any of my tyres to look good after 5 runs.

For Indoors you certainly need yellow compound Schumachers for York, but outdoors why don't you try Schumacher blues? These will give far more life than what you are getting, and will work as well as yellows on the grass tracks in the Northeast, you may just need yellows for Batley tho.

Chris

they were from pete's fairly new stock at york, they have worn almost twice as fast as all my other sets have, i still have fronts that have little wear from durham indoor regional which grip very well!, the new tyres this weekend were more grippy than usual at first then just wore away lightning fast a set of rears usualy last me 2 or 3 meetings but these are almost useless and the fronts only have about 2 meetings left in them i reckon

Wraggy, i saw two of those blow outs. I think pidge done a front in the last qualifier didn't he. And on the other occasion a car was marshalled while on full power and blow up on contact with the ground.

One of my rears had a blow out on saturday. I think the reason was because it was diffing out so one wheel was going a lot quicker than the other. My schumacher mini pins are only lasting about 4 runs and they are pretty much bald. Has the compound gone softer? Or maybe its because im going to quick hehe

Mike are you on about Pins as Chris is on about spikes?

The tyres at the indoor finals gripped well but did seem softer. The well formed spikes I ran on the weekend I have no complaints over and lasted very well indeed!

Sorry, I presumed you meant spikes.

At the indoor finals I noticed newer tyres (pins) were faster than old, but wore quicker. I was okay with the wear as I liked them gripping more - but it may be worth an email to Schumacher, if you feel strongly enough then thats what you ought to do (before posting on the forum if im honest), go onto www.racing-cars.co.uk and email them politely, and they are sure to respond.

Remember to ask them tho, if you can have permission to share any responce on a forum - don't just do it as they might not want that.

just having to slash out £7 every week now for more rear tyres which means getting more wheels and foams aswell is going to get to me abit from knowing they used to last a good 2 or 3 meetings, not so bothered that i want to contact schumacher, will email politely to see thats its ok to have said all this but i just wanted to see what you all think and if it was just the tyres i had or whether the tyres have generaly got softer compound and better grip but wear alot faster

Mike, could this possibly be anything to do with you running a more aggressive ESC/motor combo than you normally do? just a thought

Mike, when i raced the BJ4 indoor i used a set of mini pins for 3 regionals and when i put new boots on i was no quicker. I think a lot of it is down to your left thumb, if your smooth they will last, if you light the tyres up out of every turn you just killing them, and going slower

When you email Schumacher, it may be worth giving a link to this thread mate.

mike, no offence mate but as Lee said I don't think it's the tyres themselves. When I had a go with your car on saturday the car was so punchy and the throttle was like an on/off switch... I couldn't control the car.

Remember aswell, like I said you didn't have the usual brushless combo in there, it was more agressive being out of your b44.

i think the problem is the fact the hall was very hot so the grip level was high and with an aggressive brushless set-up it will spin the wheels out of corners which will wear tyres quite quickly
