brushed v brushless urns confusion

Having recently come back to rc I a little confused with the motor discriptions
Brushed are catagorised as 10 turn 15 turn etc
and I seen brushless discribed similary ie 12t etc......but today i saw somewhere that a 10 turn brushed is no where similar to a 10 t brushless.

Is this the case? or am I just at the age where I become confused easily

it can get confusing if you've raced brushed before but heres a brief example:

27T brushed -> 13.5 brushless
19T brushed -> 10.5 brushless
13T brushed -> 6.5 brushless
10T brushed -> 4.5 brushless

it gets more confusing when you add varible boost timing from the esc and a 13.5t will end going as quick as a 6.5t down the straight.

Best to forget all you knew about brushed winds. Brushed and brushless aren't equivalent.

The reason why some are described as a .5 wind and others are a whole number is just the way they are wound inside. BRCA-legal sensored motors (which is what every serious racer uses) are all a .5 wind, sensorless motors (common in RTRs and for bashing) tend to be whole numbers.

Thanks for the info fella's. the reason why I asked is because I got a 12 t etronix unsensored....which goes like the clappers and I get wheelies on grass using a b4 & 4000 2s 30c lipo ....this I can honestly say never happened 10 years ago.
MY lad has also got a b4 with a 17 turn brushed which is only slightly slower than the brushless...but the brushless seem to have a lot more 'grunt'
