Default Buy a basic Durga or Durga plus hop-ups?

Hi Guys,

I am thinking of buying a Durga (along with the other zillions) and have noted that there seems to be a few essential add ons to make it competitive. So, should I buy the standard out the box version first? Or spec it up immediately with slipper clutch, UJ's, One way? The second option really bumps up the price to about the same cost as the likes of the a B44, XXX-4 etc.

Thoughts?

buy it, buy the slipper and then factor in the others in the future. If you buy from Stella that will be £100 shipped via EMS, next would be CVD's and the 3Racing suspension mounts.

For racing I guess the TRF shocks are essential. Those plastic stock units aren't up to the job.

I wonder : adding the costs of shocks, slipper, shocktowers, screws, UJ, etc to make the Durga competitive : wouldn't it be cheaper to just buy a TRF501X in HK ?

I've raced the car in various states, and if I could choose one thing to make it competitive it would be the TRF shocks. Slipper and one way are nice.

Kit + slipper + shocks will get you a car that will be competitive at club level and more importantly will be reliable. You could then add alloy hingpin mounts + front CVD's if you wanted. Thats all you need other than a decent motor and some ability. By the way if anyone has some talent to spare, I'll buy some .

My car has the following options:
  • Slipper
    3-Racing F/R Shock Towers
    3-Racing F/R Suspension mounts
    501x shocks
    501x CVD's
    good screws
    Belt rollers/tensioners
    Kyosho ball-studs

Even with all this gear, my car has still cost me about US$50 less than my original 501X, and about US$100 less than a 501x worlds.

I beleive that my car as it is now has all the hop-ups it need to be competative at any level - to be honest I cant think of anything else that needs upgrading.

As I've mentioned elswhere, the fact the the most expensive 501x parts (chassis/bulkheads) are not available as uprgades for the Durga means it should never cost the same as a 501, depending upon where you buy your bits from of course

I just started looking into the Durga also.

What are the "must have" hop-ups to make it stable enough for some unlevel made of brick parking lot / light off road bashing?

There is no racing intented and it will not be a shelf queen either.

slipper and front CVD's to be honest, and the 3Racing suspension mounts would make it cheap but very reliable.
