Pics of the molded gearbox...

Prototype are white to differentiate from production parts, the production parts will be black.

Can't wait to try them !

Gearboxes are here !

Test sessions hopefully this week.

In the meantime I've sent the order for the aluminium parts to be started.

Ok the molded gearbox had its maiden run today and so far, so good. 3 Lipos dumped and not broke it. Drive is fine, if a bit noisier than the machined one (not too bad considering how silent the machined box is).

Is it pure Plastic( Insert type here) or a plastic composite to stiffen the box?

Testing of the gearbox is being carried out.

This week end will be probably the last indoors outing for the season, and my first race in france for a long time.

Hi all,

Just to let you know, testing of the molded gearbox is still going on and there are still a few niggles to sort out.

I was racing yesterday at an indoor meeting near Paris. The surface was a very slippery floor and the car handled it brilliantly. I finished 3rd overall and signed the fastest lap in 2WS and 2nd fastest lap of the whole meeting.

Will check up on the manufacturing later on and will keep you guys updated on how it's all going.

Right,

Just got off the phone with the sub-contractor for the aluminium parts, they're running late and because it's a bank holiday week end, it's gonna make it even worse.

We're still gonna try to have the cars ready for Tallywain but it's gonna be tough. In any case I'll know more on thursday.

Sorry guys,

No I'm not back in the UK and won't be for a while.

Parts have finally been delivered by the waterjet guys, 2 weeks late... They're in final machining and then it'll just be a matter of anodising them.

The gearboxes however aren't ready yet, we're going to try a different material, so I think it's reasonable to say they should be ready in may.
