love the first truck Jon.

90% of the shells that get posted on Oople, I think "nice skills, too complex and fussy design though"

5%, I think "oooh no, no no no no no"

and 5%, I think "hmmmmm nice colours, nice job, nice simple and effective design".

Truck #1 fits the latter 5%.

Top job in every aspect.

This is getting like Masterchef.

[efit] p.s. not sure about the wood !!!
p.p.s. what's an efit?

just finished one now as it happens. Need to leave it 2 days though before backing it off & then removing the protective outer film ... ie before I can take a decent photo.

Jon - what's your advice to doing 'trim lines' ?

Please don't tell me you just cut them by hand !!!

On my last shell I used a combination of liquid mask and stick on trim lines to build up my mask.... so the trim lines are bang parallel, which is nice. However, they have a tendancy to a) lift where they go across a fold in the shell, and b) leave a sticky residue behind when you lift them for spraying.

On one of my shells, I made what can only be described as a "shank" .... basically a lolly stick with 2 x scalpel blades taped firmly onto the end, allowing me to cut parallel trim line direct into the liquid mask.

Appreciate your thoughts, praying you don't just tell me it's skill... but I suspect that might be the answer coming my way !!

interesting.... I'm thinking of trying some of the masking tapes here : http://www.everythingairbrush.com/ac..._Products.html

The Finespray Fine Line Green Tape, to be specific.

I like the idea (for both convenience & nice parallel lines) of using a masking line tape underneath the liquid mask.

I worked for me pretty well on my recent shell - only problem was the tacky residue when lifting the mask line.

For more complex work, e.g. edging flames etc, then cutting by hand is clearly the way to go.
