that would be a mini table top it might end up as a combination with a kicker as well see how the track pans out when people tell me what they think

the jump combination you had on 28December with the kicker before the tabletop was awesome! everyone was enjoying that
so if there's room for a kicker slip one in

Andy, aside from my usual concern with features you can't roll through (although I have to say the cross-overs look far better arranged than the first encounter I had with them) it looks good apart from the first crossover you come to .... the one after the "Mini" table top.

My concern with that is that as you aproaching it from a 90 deg corner, launching off slippy floor, people might find it awkward to hit the kicker straight and true and if they have to lift off on the previous corner they might not get enough drive to clear the gap. Obviously until you drive it you won't know!!! (might be worth trying putting a temp tack marker in place limiting the apex to say 300mm wide (as might be the case with a series of crashed cars there if somebody tried to do something foolish up the inisde of that corner) and see if the worst jumper at your club can clear it, both from a rolling start from that apex and and standing start.

If there is an issue it might be resolved a little by turning the whole feature through about 45 degrees clockwise (so the lander falls into the empty area on the bottom right of your picture). It might just need a grippy surface for the acceleration area and surface of the kicker.

Just a couple of ideas if it does cause a problem.

The other thing that may cause an issue is the divider between the landing area of the 2nd crossover and the lanuch area of the first. Have you got anything that you can use to make a "wall" there to help prevent crossing into the other section (from say a silly attempt at the jump or just a landing bad enough to cause a barrel roll). Has Mark got an advertising board / hording that could be mounted there to act as a catch fence?

The extra landing area on both crossovers will make them far more enjoyable for the majority and certainly help the track flow. The exit from the main straight should let everything sort itself out at the start of finals. Cars should already be spread out by the time they get to the first crossover. Marshals should be easy enough to spread out without hindering the drivers view. Nice clean entry to the straight. All looking good.

How high is the "Mini" table top in relation to the small ramp behind it? Will the 2nd small ramp be clearly visible from the rostrum even by us vertically challenged people? Impossible to tell from a drawing but I thought I'd mention it as your keen for feedback.

On the whole though that layout looks really flowing and a nice blend of slippy and grippy apexes, again to my tastes a nicer layout than the first event. Great blend of flying and driving.

(Disclaimer ....... my comments are aimed purely at Andy (and his team) in response to his request for feedback and nothing else. Please lets not start an off-raod track verses touring track verses Red Bull air race track debate.)

hi rog

thanks as always for your mini novals as replys LOL

i hope i dont miss anything out of your comment,
on the first x over agreed there is a slippy bit there we do have an off cut so it will be filling that spot sorry should have drawn that in as for the angle we still have around 3 meters in the hall thats not in the picture so basily the picture is 30m by 17m in scale but we have 33m by 19m to build the track in the venue alowing for a forgotten apex here and there so we can adjust angle of entry so on.

of course we will try and make someway of stopping the enevinatable track marker jumping after the x cover in front of race control worst part of indoor racing trying to get a lot in in a small space.

the mini table top is 1ft from the floor and 4 feet long so hopefully wont be in the way its untryed yet so we will have to wait and see exciting isnt it

thanks for your comments roger hope i have answered them Andy

Lightbulb Scoring system for MK Winter Series

I've updated the webpage with the following text about how the series will be decided.

Each meeting will consist of 4 heats and one final. Fastest single heat will be used to qualify for the finals.

Points will be scored 101 for fastest qualifier, 99 for second fastest, 98, 97, 96 etc. The A Final winner will get 100 points, 2nd will get 99, third 98 etc. B Final winner will get 90 and so on. Drivers will add qualifying points to final points for a total Round score.

The winter series will be scored by adding the two best Round scores for each driver. In the event of a tie, any third score will be the tie-breaker.

Everyone should get a representative qualifying from one of their 4 heats. Results and scores will be published on the Monday after raceday. For the third meeting, I'll make a spreadsheet that will work out the results a few minutes after the last final, so we can all go home knowing where we finished.

If anyone doesn't understand the above (and wants too!) let me know and I'll have another go at explaining.

Andy ..... sounds like you've got it covered!!!

Should be good.

smk ...... so FTD qualifying, same scoring system as was used in days gone by for RRCi meetings etc.

All makes perfect sense for a meeting like yours where the track should remain constant all day.

Chaps,

Couple of general queries:

What time do the doors open sunday morning?
I guess its bring your own tables and chairs?
Is there mains power freely available?
Is it free practice?

I apologise if these questions have already been asked!

yeah bring your own table & chairs, there are some chairs there but its better to have one & not need it rather than need one etc

there is mains hookup but sockets are limited, at the very least bring an extension lead with a few outlets
