Keith sent me a couple of pics, so much work been going on there, please come down and help tomorrow as the help would be very very useful with 16 tons of AstroTurf to lay!

Will try and upload pics via iPad now.

We've not really got full access until tomorrow but been making a start moving some of the astroturf into place.

If anyone wants to help out tomorrow, then there will be members of 'Teesside Radio Car Club' and others at the track all day.

...the ropes were just to outline the track, they will go back down on top of the astroturf:

...cars for public 'have-a-go' sessions prepared:

...trophies for top 4wd and 2wd:

Hope you are all bringing along some flyers from your clubs to hand out to interested parties and get some new members. I have the BRCA 'promoting model car racing handbooks' and copies of 'RC Racer' magazine, if anyone wants any for anyone showing an interest then give me a shout over the weekend.

Wasn't aware there was one Chris - I don't bother reading what I write on here any more as I know there are at least two or three who will do it for me ! ! ! !

What heat were you expecting to be in come the weekend?

Default Astroturf (Dyanmix Raceway)

The organisor's of the Buggy GP would like to take this opportunity to thank Paul Carr from DYNAMIX Raceway in Gateshead for the loan of the astroturf for this event.

DYNAMIX Raceway is a new 2 acre facility, located in Gateshead and construction of the track will take place over the next few weeks. If you can help out in anyway, please contact [email protected] or visit the thread on oOple here.

We will be handing out an information sheet at The Buggy GP and there is a section on there about the Dynamix Raceway. If you want us to pass your information onto the Raceway, please tick the relevant box on the form.

Along with the loan of the astroturf, TRCC and Much-More UK have contributed a large sum of cash to physically transport the 16 tons of astroturf from Gateshead to Durham (and back again next week) so most of all we hope that you enjoy the weekend's racing and have fun.

If anyone is able to stay back an hour or two on Sunday afternoon/evening to help roll the astroturf up, the more helpers we have, the easier it will be.

Thanks again to all involved and please support DYNAMIX Raceway with their new venture.

Keith.

Talking Today's round-up

The track today was fantastic and we had plenty of practice and spectators.

After 2 qualifiers the heavens opened and when I say they opened they really did, more rain than most humans have ever seen accompanied by thunder and lightning.

So, going into Day 2 (forecast is better), 2 rounds of qualifying completed (except the final heat) and we're all looking forward to more racing.

I'm just uploading pics and will link to some of the best ones shortly.

A big thank you to all involved in this event, I had a great time!
It was nice and relaxed and fun and there was some good racing on show.

So once again a big thank you to everybody and to bill for a superb job at race control(even if some of the tunes were a bit dubious )

whens the next one?

What? You didn't like Purple Rain? Take That's The Flood, or Riders on The Storm from The Doors ???????????

Glad you liked some of them anyway so here's those results, lap times etc (see exactly which lap you pranged the flower pot)

For those that raced the Sunday, everything is here Buggy GP

and for those only in heats on the Saturday, your times are here
Buggy GP Saturday

Enjoy - and thanks to Mike, Stewart & Peter Craig and Dan for help in Race Control and everyone else whether you organised, built or raced, or all 3, you made it a Great GP

You're not bad for a pub quiz amateur - it was The Weather Girls, not Gaynor.

The vast motley assortment of folks at a race meeting is what makes it all the more fun, and I suppose that goes for music too

Default Buggy GP 6th/7th August 2011

Thanks to all who took part in the event at the weekend and all who helped with input into the track build on Friday and early Saturday morning. It was good to have some time on Saturday to let the drivers have an input into the track design, so thanks to Barry Williams, Mike West etc for doing that and making it a superb track for everyone.

(In no particular order), a big thanks to Paul Carr, Bill Allison, Gary Swinton, Alex Inglis Snr & Jnr, Dan Rowlands, Peter Craig, Peter Charlton, Mike West, Barry Williams, Stewart Craig, Peter Ellis, Dave & Sarah Ellis, Ian and Alex for driving the JCBs, all at TRCC, CML Distribution and everyone who helped clear up on Sunday evening.

Sorry if anyone's been missed.

Well done to David Pack and Peter Craig.

There's some more pictures and a short report here
