John.
Anyone thinking there will be an advantage by coming on thursday and friday morning should be reassured here, since I wouldn't think that the open practice would be run on the same carpet.

Track will close at 15:00 on the Friday not lunch time, according to Nicolas forum.

Tony
I'm sorry but that's a load of crap. Local drivers will ALWAYS have an advantage on any permanent track unless it gets changed 100% in the week before the event, which doesn't happen.

If that's the case why do people that come from other areas win then?

LOL ....

Put it this way, drivers like Lee Martin, Elis Stafford, Chris Doughty (to name but the first 3 that jumped to mind) could turn up to a track they had never seen just in time for round 3 and still out qualify most of us making us look like we had forgotten to fit any tires!!!!!!

Trust me mate, I've put litterally 1000s of laps around Kiddy over the best part of 2 decades and would still be moving over to let any of the above lap me inside 5 mins (probably inside 4 if I am honest)

It's a bit like asking why Moureen from Driving School hasn't been signed up to drive for an F1 team

All us mear mortals can do by practicing at a track is improve our position against the other mear mortals slightly!

Hope the extra little bit of money is going into the heating lol.......

I'm going to practice the Thursday & Friday because i havent driven for nearly two Months. I did go to the last round @ Ardent only to end up in QMC Hospital. But i be honest you wouldnt of gained any advantage over other drivers anyways i feel.

Think it's good idea for the club as they are open most days for pratice plus it's there busniess if you dont open up who going to pay the bills etc?? Also it's just to get feel of the place as it's not like most other clubs & i think you will also find alot of the top boys will be there either Thursday/Friday running anyways.

I know the practice was mentioned on this forum well over month ago too.

Yep 15:00 my bad :-). Track layout will be different and a percentage of the track surfaces will change + the main jumps, so in my own mind not necessarily giving you an advantage just a chance to have a shake down and get used to your surroundings. Something those that have attended the Durango series have already gained.

I can guarantee you those expecting to gain an advantage over learning the track, or how to take the jumps will be back on this forum straight after Petit complaining that the track changed. Maybe it shouldn't be called practice? Instead I should have said Ardent will be open to all people in an Off-Road configuration for a change, on the Thursday and Friday. Thursday night we will run a short race meeting too.

John, can you please give us details of the proposed "race meeting" on thursday night, start times, format etc.

I was planning on being there about 19:30 on the Thursday (earliest I could get there with work etc.) and want to know if it's still worth doing! God I need time with the 4wd, seems I've done that much 2wd I've forgotten how to drive one (not helped by a major configuration change since I ran it last!!)

Cheers, keep chipping away mate ... might as well book me in for the 2011/2012 winter series whilst your at it

Hi Roger, it would be extremely relaxed so format would be basically one that groups people together in similar abilities and gives them 5 minute timed practice sessions. That's only if there's enough people and if we feel it is the best way to give people fair track time. Also you could turn up late and join in the fun, not a problem. :-)

What time does the doors open Thursday/Friday for practice?

I know you mention about Thursday night but you open in the day for practice.

your email is perhaps lost! but what do you mean for you if you are in the DRiver list (with 172 others guys) and approx 10 are in the waiting list?

I remind you to have a look to the rule that you can download.
If any questions, please add them in the official thread who is easier for me to reply and don't lost time.
