What exactly are the differences?
The most noticeable is that the Pro has threaded shocks, the pictured 50 quidder has plastic preload collars a la B4 Stealth. If you look real close it also has plain rod top arms, not turnbuckles. The Pro definately has CVD's so it's safe to assume the base model has doggy bones and I'm sure I've seen ballraced steering somewhere altho I may have dreamt that bit.

Other than that I'm as stumped as everyone else on why the Pro X is priced well into "Run at one indoor meeting, mint condition" B4 territory, yet the base version is as cheap as a set of tyres for an SC10. Perhaps the gearbag insides are made of cheese?

Jamie...
Is that Macnum as in Macnum PI? Also, I noticed the optional Pats as well, are there any plans for optional Deidres, Sandras or Barbaras too?

I can assure you that the pics ive posted are of the basic kits (mad rat and macnum),of this i am sure as i work for Ansmann.

Both the kits ive showed you have the rrp price printed on the bottom but i have edited this out as it also shows the trade price. Both cars shown here will retail for £49.99

As stated above, the main difference is the turnbuckles, dogbones rather than cvd's and shocks. The gearbox and its casing is of the same quality in both the basic version and pro.

The mad rat and macnum are indeed better value than the pro version as it gives you the chance to "upgrade" any parts you feel necessary.

Hope this clears things up

Jamie......

I'm very tempted to buy the basic version. The shocks I would change over from my XXXCR and I would probably buy some CVD's.

Great price for a sub £50.00 model, well done Ansmann I say.

Models like this will bring more interest into our hobby (our way of life).

Let's hope the spares backup is a) there b) sensibly priced and c) not needed much due to decent design and materials. If so, this can only be a winner for newcomers and club racers.

Quite tempted to plop £50 on one myself

Are clear shells for the Mad Rat available in the UK yet? How about other spares?

Quite tempted to have a punt on one of these as a cheap club car, but I'm allergic to RTR colours!

Another Q...

Does the basic kit have pre-glued tyres or would I need to get a set of wheels too?
